Wow! Looks like a great deal at musiciansfriend.com. They have a Fostex VF80 with Burner for $599.99 . If Norseman could sell his Drakkar, he might just buy one. Looks like a great machine for a "guitar hackin', lyric butcherin' but enjoy it anyway even though the neighbors keep movin" musician as myself.

The version without an integral burner can be connected to an external scsi CDR drive. They recommend Plextor. In the UK it's a better deal, though not by much, to buy the non CDR recorder & use the external drive

Norsey,

I had one. It is a decent machine, but there are better ones out there for the money. I went with the Zoom MRS-802CD for $575. It has 8 mono tracks, 1 stereo pair of tracks for mix down, and a stereo drum track for the built in drum machine. Each recording track has 10 virtual tracks giving 100 tracks per song compared to the Fostex 24. And if you buy the one without the CD burner, you can install one yourself by getting a lite-on brand burner for around $50.

Just a thought.

Well guys, I really don't have the cabage to be buying one right now, just wanted to share what looked like a great deal in case someone else is in the market. From what I've heard this is a very nice machine, and I know locally it would sell for around 800.00 plus 6.5% tax.

In the meantime, hey I sound just as good taped off my daughter's boom box, as I do live! Actually my daughter says the boom box is an improvement... she can controll the volume down to a level that keeps the dog from howlin!
