Joined: January 2004 Posts: 799 Location: Athens, GA & Gnashville | Ever since I joined this board, I have this constant GAS attack for a 12 string...maybe an Elite, maybe on older GC a/c ...who knows, LX?? Hotdamas? I think I have totally lost it!! I am not on the road anymore (where a 12 was really effective for filling out the rhythm section); I am semi-retired doing occasional gigs here locally and in Nashville; WHAT AM I THINKING? Everytime I get a nice 12, it ends up under the bed after a few months. Is there some kind of program for this s&^%? I've already aquired two guitars since joining this place...both berry, berry nice older O's. It's not Lent for two more hours!!!!!!!

Before that, I had an early 80's CL 12 ( lost in the fire when my house burned to the ground). First thing I did was get on the phone to Kim Keller and asked him to rush through the order from my music store. In 2 wks. I had my new one. I guess this is a special disorder, this need for a 12. Anyone else with this problem??

Shiny bowls with subtly aged finished spruce tops, non-cutaways with big double epaulets. Talk of Adamas wood tops and CVT versus SMT. Descriptions like "symphonic" and "chorus like" dotting the posts. So I get the idea of maybe obtaining a simple 12 twelve string for myself. I find ways to justify and talk myself into it. The search begins. Then someone mentioned an Adamas 1688. The "epitomy" you say. Up pops the idea of a Baritone 12 string with a carbon fiber board and deep bowl. It haunts me, it calls me, it can't be done they say... Will any of us be truly happy with what we get? Doubtful. But the chase. The search. The Hunt! If you want it to stop you will have to stop hanging out with your "friends" and spend your time being productive and focused! Naaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!

You could have (as a part of the entry contract) all of the Ovations displayed in the "Common Room" (you keep the key) and then you could play any "O" to your hearts content and get paid for it! We addicts (my name is Tim and I'm an Ovationite) could have a place to go and get "clean" (note I didn't say "cured")near Nashville! whatchathink??? tim

Now I'm working on convincing the rest of the band to get it worked into a couple of songs on the set list.... At home I'm mainly playing my Legend, but the 12 string will DEFINATLEY come in handy this spring and summer when I have the "guitar get togethers" and I guess I'll make room for it to take to Kerrville... Since I've been hangin' out here, I've bought three Ovations: Legend, Viper Bass, Pacemaker. And sold three guitars: Celebrity, Cort, Monatana bass (broken and repaired!) I'm almost completely upgraded, still got the Hamer Custom and Applause mando. Hmmmmmmm Ovation Mando and Hamer Korina?????? NO, NO, NO, the seed was just planted ~~~ :D
