Joined: December 2006 Posts: 6268 Location: Florida Central Gulf Coast | Just testing the waters here... At the Smokey's Jam, several of us discussed building an OFC networking database (OFCNDB) for those interested. This data would include OFC user name, real name, phone info, email and home addresses. To be included, at least the first three elements would be required. The data would ONLY be sent to the participants. The data would be in MS Excel format. Mac users need to let me know if that is an issue. I would send out an updated OFCNDB once a month to participants whenever there are new entries. If you have suggestions or concerns, let's address 'em here. Then if this becomes a reality I'll start a new thread. Thanx...

Just a thought here, Maybe include a section, asterik, whatever, where a member would want other members to contact them if they were in Town? Not that most members here wouldn't, but some may feel like they were intruding. This way they know it's ok. Like I said, just a thought.

I dunno, maybe the old ways are just too simple. I'm a lo-tech kinda guy.

Actually, I like the idea just because it would give me a contact list. I write phone numbers on post it notes and then forget where I put them or who belongs to the phone number. It's pretty tough to beat me if you're going for low tech.

This enables the folk in the area to respond and make plans accordingly. Seems to work around here so far that when someone posts "I'll be in such-and-such a place this weekend" everyone interested in that area says, "Hey, where can we meet?" Dave, I absolutely agree! If Miles or Al have any objections and/or guidance, then they can let us know right here. As I said, "Just testing the waters...".

Joined: December 2001 Posts: 7210 Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | I believe Alpep may be on the road someplace, but my suggestion would to NOT use the term "Ovation FanClub(tm)" with one exception.. a disclaimer that the "list and it's contents are not affiliated with, derived from, or used by, the Ovation FanClub(tm) in any way. Personally, I like the simple... if your going to visit, just post or send a message to someone you know in that area. It's seems to have worked so far.

Joined: December 2006 Posts: 6268 Location: Florida Central Gulf Coast | Let me address several points that have been brought up: None of the data should be posted on this or any other site. It will be a private participant sharing via email only. The 'list' name doesn't matter to me. We can call it the 'O' List or whatever. We should take Miles' advice and leave the 'OFC' out. We could also set a minimum number of posts to be eligible for inclusion. This may deter 'info sharks' from joining just for the data. If this is a 'go', I will establish a new email addy just for the purpose of gathering and disseminating the info. Please continue to respond with your ideas and concerns! Thanx.
