Just got in the Legend LX (transparent burgundy, through Al) - great guitar, excellent workmanship, projection. Guitar feels sturdy but it feels so much lighter in weight. Ovation did a great job.

Tony my Legend LX comes in tomorrow, and I can't wait. From the first time I picked one of these guitars up I knew it would be a winner. I am so happy about the neck attachment method Ovation is using on these guitars. Way to go Ovation!

Still can't find a store in southern Calif that has an LX. Today I was by Sam Ashe in Huntington Beach. The people there didn't even know what an LX was. I ended up calling their purchasing department on the east coast and pushing them to get them into their stores.

This is becoming a pain. Can I collect a salery from Ovation for acting as a rep?

Paul, I suspect that the wheels are grinding exceedingly slowly within the big music outlets as far as getting LXs....I was told by my local Guitar Center "a couple of months" around the end of January. I believe that they aren't in a hurry to restock after the Christmas rush with the slow economy.

My local GC only got their FIRST U.S.-made Ovation since Christmas in last week....and it WASN'T an LX....a S771 Balladeer.

Hopefully, the LXs will be easily available by the time I have the money together to get my next guitar..... :) Despite my selecting against the Standard Elite LX at Elderly, I still am interested...a Legend LX could be next. But I gotta hear it first!!!!

I was in a local independent guitar shop (John & John: - Richie's Music, Rockaway) to pick up some strings. I wandered around the guitar section and just casually asked one of the salesguys if they'd be getting any of the nex LX models in. A completely different guy (who had been stacking amps) dropped what he was doing (not an amp :-) and jumped RIGHT in. He said he had just ordered an Elite LX and it should be in next week (which would make it THIS week :-) . I believe this guy runs their Guitar Dept. and was really enthused about the guitar! He started rattling off all of the "features" and I was just just nodding my head saying "I know....I know . ."
Really nice to see a "pro-Ovation" salesman for a change!!

Will letcha know if I get a chance to "road test" one this week.

Clifford, if you promise never to repeat this to anybody, I respect your opinion and really want to hear what you have to say. I'll deny it if you repeat that.

Don't know about the Elite LX...I had posted about finding a Legend in GC a couple of weeks ago - the LX Legend is superior to the 2003 Legend that I saw.

Interested if and when someone can compare the Elite LX v. the Legend LX.

So who in my town or area has an LX Legend? I could take a Saturday drive to play and compare guitars!

Tony, if the Legend LX is better than the 2003 Legend, it must be pretty darn good...my 2003 has really good sound. I can hardly wait....

In talking about the Elite LX, are we talking about the Standard Elite LX or the more expensive model???? Or both?

As to a comparison of Elite LX v. Legend LX - heck, Paul Hebert is the only one I know that has been able to compare a couple of the LX's side by side...we can't even find them in the stores. Not sure what model of the Elite style LX he was able to play, in addition to the Legend LX.

This one was ordered unseen. Actually this is for someone else but he doesn't get it until later this evening.

Paul gets his Legend LX from Al tomorrow so he must have formed an opinion.

Perhaps everyone could bring their LX's & compare them at the factory tour & then post the results for those of us who are unable to attend.

Tony, I didn't get a chance to play an Elite LX. I played a Standard Balladeer LX, and a Legend LX. These two guitars both played well, and sounded great. I imagine the Elite LX would sound great too. This choice just gets down to if you like the round hole or the multi-hole guitar. You can't lose either way.

PeterBright, here's a better idea. When ya'll're at the factory pull the fire alarm and drain the building. That will make it nice and quiet. Go out on the assembly line and play them all.

Moody, P.I., you need to do some more investigatin', brother! There is a store in San Diego, Guitar Trader,
http://www.guitartrader.com/dir2.icl?orderidentifier=ID1078200666377521C7C4F6C559&secid=1022&subsecid=1100&catid=0&itmcnt=55&begincount=1&endcount=40&curpage=1&numpages=2
that has all 4 models listed on their website (they have 55 O's listed on their site). They are located on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. If you go there, ask for Steve Parr. He is a great guy and I have bought 5 guitars from him.

This is good to know. When I get to San Diego, it's usually for work and then I've got to head back up north. Next trip, I'll plan to take an extra hour and check out the store. Thanks much.

The burgundy LX Legend is for a facilitator who works for me. Had to, otherwise he would monopolize my O's. Came over tonight to pick it up. His first O. Yes, he went nuts. Also gave him a black/burgundy Levi leather strap, OFC guitar picks and a OFC hat, loaned him a 15w practice amp and patch cord.

Pretty good guitarist. Now if he gets DSL, we'll get him on the OFC. Doubt if his Guild will get much play.

Here in Tulsa the local Ovation dealer is "Roy and Candy's" music and they had a Standard Balladeer LX and an Elite LX and I sat and played both of them for quite a while... The Elite stood out dramatically... The guy working there was knowledgable and very helpful and said if I wanted to buy one that he'd make me a great deal... Seemed really anxious to get some LX's into some people's hands... The Elite LX had the best unplugged sound that I've ever heard from an ovation unplugged... IMHO..

Sounds like they are at least starting to hit the stores now.

Gun control is not using two hands. It's hitting your target.

I'm always wary of stores whose websites show massive inventory. Usually the websites are just online catalogs for mail order purposes. My guess is that the situation will be very different if you actually go to the store.
