Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | I was just curious as to the comparison of a slothead guitar and a regular Ovation headstock. Is there an advantage to the slothead design, or is it strictly a question of looks? |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | There has been a lot of discussion on this, so you may want to search on "slothead", but very quickly, it is believed that the neck angle or moreover the angle of the strings that can be achieved going over the nut to the machines has a lot to do with the overall sound. |

Location: NJ | A slotted headstock has a slightly greater angle than a regular headstock. There are those of the belief that this increased "break angle" at the nut improves the sound.

Location: SoCal | Besides the sound and the 12-fret v. 14-fret, there is also the aesthetic...the pictures of Cliff's Adamas, a distinctive and beautiful instrument.
As to the sound, can't speak about the Adamas (no experience.) As for the Custom Legend, the slothead 12-string 1658 IMHO is better than the 1659. Subjective? Sure.
Am I excited about the 6-string slothead Adamas? You bet! |

Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | Speaking of Cliff's Adamas, he was nice enough to let me play it and I must must say that it is one of the best sounding guitars I've ever heard. We were in a crowded, noisy bar and you could still hear how great it sounded. You can actually feel the vibration through the body of the guitar when you hit the bass strings. It does look cool too. |

That's an interesting observation. When I play my 68 Deluxe Balladeer, I can feel it thru the body. It's why when I special order an LX, I want the deep bowl with the newer, lighter material. I want that vibration. |

Location: Upper Left USA | Port Orchard is right across the the water from Bremerton. Bremerton, besides being host to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, is the place where someone reportedly shouted "Give em Hell Harry" when Harry Truman stopped by on his run to the Presidency. Many Left Coast Naval personnel have passed through Bremerton at some time - including one of our Web hosts. As can be imagined it has been surrounded by bars and Taverns until the rise of family values and is now being pushed as a cultural and historic center. When the sun comes through the clouds it's a pretty nice place. When it doesn't, it makes the Californians remember to go home.
The Olympics are to my left, Cascades to my right. On a recent climb up Mt. Ellinor this summer I could almost see Oregon and up to B.C.

must be those transplant Californians that screwed it up...now they use tablecloths and serve lattes. Gotta really look to find a real bar anymore. |
