I'm considering parting with my 1863 Classical. I have heard that with it being a white top, that makes it somewhat of a rare bird...
Will that add any value or is the finish a non-issue? It's probably 10 years old (or older) and plays like a dream. I know a classical "purist" might not say so, but anyone that survives on plugging in ought to consider this vital equipment.
Is asking $500 unreasonable? It's seen very little use, not a scratch, and HSC.
Thanks in advance.

Ted,
Looks to me that $500 is a great price for the buyer (IMHO). Bought an older 1763 a couple of months ago for $433 with a case that was held together by strapping tape...threw out as soon as I got it home. Then $60 for a replacement case = $493. AAA cedar, 5pc neck, ebony, gold tuners, etc. - Music123 lists for $1,155. Several of the 1763's went for $600-750 on eBay last year. Is yours a shallow bowl as the new line? If I didn't have the 1763, I would jump at yours. Beautiful guitar.

Ted:
Why don't you post a pic of your guitar for us all to see. It may be easier to sell than you think.

Thanks for the help, guys. I appreciate it.
Good suggestion, I did pull out my digital camera and snap a few. Here's the site:
1863 Whiteface Classical
As far as selling it, I'm in a quandry. I have a 5 year-old daughter I'd like to have play guitar someday, and I know this is a good one.
However, you and I know this isn't wildly accepted in a lot of circles, misled wood-loving Neanderthals, them all, but it's a great ax. Comfortable, solid, (you could take it sledding, as long as you be sure to dry the snow out of the inside, and stay away from the steep hills, but that's another story.)
However, if I can get what it's worth, I'd be tempted to let it go, and let my daughter choose her own guitar.
If I get serious, though, I may post it in the For Sale section.
Again, thanks for the advice.

I have bought several guitars from Ted, and can attest that he is one hundred per cent reliable and trustworthy and a gentleman. Oh, and he likes Ovations, too....

Wow, that was quick...
First time I ever sold anything, before selling it.
Looks like it just got adopted by a really good home!
