Having revisited my old Balladeer 1112 at my Bro in-law's the other day I was struck by something I had forgotten about - the smell!

I hit the archives and the odor now has a name - binary resin.

I have read about scent memories being the strongest type that our brains hold and it was really odd. At first whiff several memories came rushing back. Is this only with a certian "vintage" or type of bowls?

Is there a neutralizer or preferred cleaner that can bring this down?

When I got my LX it had it's own smell. I wiped the inside and outer bowl down with a well wrung dampened cloth with Murphy's Wood Soap to remove some of the polish/process dust.

You mean you don't lick yours... how does anyone know it's really yours?

I really didn't do the math but I have plenty of posts talking about storing spirits in the roundback and using the strap button hole as a dispenser.

ClassicRocker,

At the rate things are going we'll be able to get marriage licenses for them in Massachusetts!

Sorry, I told Al I'd stay non-political while he checks on my next guitar.

mwoody, your idea about wiping down the inside of the guitar made me think that perhaps there was a product to apply on the interior of the lyrachord bowl that would 'seal it', so to speak, making it more acoustically reflective for sound without hindering it's ability to vibrate...; kind of like the application they use on windsheild glass that causes water to run off....sounds bizarre i guess, but i was just curious...

So to answer my original question...

Would you prefer Murphy's Wood Soap or Chanel #5?

Hey guys...I've been working on this song: "Eat My Guitar". Sounds like you'all with experience might be able to fill in the second verse or cum up with a chorus. (Pun intended.)

Peter,
Just fall asleep listening to Frank Zappa. I'm sure the answer will come to you.

OK, here's the chorus:

I'm so broke
I'm livin' in the bar
Drinkin' my beer from an old fruit jar
And I'm so hungry I'll
Eat my guitar....

Send the royalties to my PayPal address, thank you. :D

I was thinking more along the lines of a sexual metaphor. (Not when listening to FZ but to Meg White of the White Stripes.)

I don't know if it counts as licking?? But I remember in day's past playing for so long and working out the bugs on a tough song I would sometimes drop a small goob of druel right down the thirteenth fret! Nobody noticed Wonder who got that guitar? There is a sixth sense as well ! I knew I would own that 1688-7 I saw 25 years ago! Randy
