2003V Collector's - very nice. I loved the inlays so much it lead me to grab and Elite LX as soon as it was available. MF had some for $800.

Balladeer 1112 - 1974 Custom Balladeer - my first Ovation. A real working tool. It spoiled me - I could not enjoy any other guitar that didn't project like an O.

There's plenty in the archives on each of these models. Check them out!

I don't believe the 1769-ADII Al Di Meola Signature Model is available yet. Soon.

Supposed to be some nice improvements (new and improved bracing pattern and OP-Pro preamp.) Some of the older AD-5's show up on eBay occasionally or still at dealers.

Sorry... First post was short and poor... What I meant to ask was... Has anyone had the opportunity to play the latest Al Di Meola Signature Model. I'm curious as to how the Deep bowl AAA top sounds,feels,etc... Or any opinions on the older ADSM.
Thanks

I haven't, but I would sure like to, it is on my short list for my next guitar. But I doubt that I will ever find one anywhere near Detroit without ordering it unseen and unheard.

I'm sure many of you saw the used old model AD on eBay last week. Nice to at least SEE one somewhere.

Yes I played one that just came off the line about a month ago. It was a very nice guitar.

Mea Culpa...

No, but I have played a couple of the ones you already own... obviously. Ooops. Still anally
reading from top to bottom.

OAO - I have played an Applesauce 12 string as well. Very nice

BTW - fine choices in your guitars!

I played one at NAMM. While you really can't hear anything there, I thought it sounded better than the LX's.

I'm waiting for Ovation to come out with the new bowl material in a deep bowl. Then I'm going to order my Moody p.i. Deluxe Legend!

Dave and Paul are both right.... :)

OK, I feel a sense of deja vu(and not from listening to CSNY)...let's go on.....

Thanks for the nice words, Mike, I like my guitars, too!

While I trust the experienced opinions I'm hearing on the board about the superior sound of the LX guitars, I'm thinking that what I really want for my next one is not another mid-bowl, but a deep-bowl. Obviously there are only two ways to get that in a U.S.-made Ovation....buy a Al DiMeola CL, or custom order something. Also, obviously, that means that it can't be an LX at this point.

My local Guitar Center has a used 1767 Legend deep bowl that just came in....I tried it out and it sounded really good, even with dead strings. Unfortunately, I don't care for the finish(kind of an orange-yellow burst), and I think they want way too much for it($899, when new Legends go for only $100 more).

I met Slipkid and BrianT Tuesday night and we played for a couple of hours before I had to run back to my end of town(50 miles away), and the sound of their deep-bowl Os was outstanding. I felt like they could even overpower my mid-bowl ME 12-string!!!!

Bottom line on all this rambling is that I am sold on deep-bowl more than LX at this point, at least for my taste. Might change after I get to try a 1771 or 1777. And Paul M. has got the right idea, a deep-bowl LX would be killer!
