Location: Central Oregon | I don't have an OP20, but on my OP40's I only push the button once to turn on the tuner. It stays on for about 60 seconds. If I finish tuning before it turns itself off I push the button again & hold it 'til the light blinks to turn it off. Maybe you're turning it on & then back off?

Let me get this right. If I press the tuning button once, and then pluck a string, I should see the led lights indicating what note is being played?
The light have never ever, turned on. That is my problem.
Please let me know.

Yup, that's the way my OP40's work. There's also a red light for too sharp (with a little # symbol next to it), a red light for too flat (with a little b symbol next to it) & a green light in the middle when it's in tune.
Could be a bum tuner like LSC said.

Location: New York | I went back to the music shop today, and indeed the pre amp was defective, as far as the tuning mechanism. It wasnt working at all. They swapped the pre amp from another guitar, and it is working just fine. Thanks to all responders. I hope these ovation pre amps dont have a tendency to malfunction
