I just wanted to publicly state that Sam is a prince of a guy. I was about set to upgrade to a nice Strat. (I once had a sweet American Standard Strat that I let go... another story). I was watching a recent PBS special on Bob Marley with my son and there was a member of the Wailers playing a Deacon. It was like a revelation. I'd always wanted one when I was a teen in the 70's. A quick check on the 'net and I found there was a whole culture of Deacon fans, and that Sam was the king of said culture.

I asked his opinion of a Deacon that was on ebay and he gave me a prompt, educated reply.. When that guitar went for more than he said it was worth, he offered to sell me his Deacon Deluxe.

This is the black Deacon on Sam's gallery, with the white pickguard. I played it last night for the first time with our church praise band, and the rest of the group said I never sounded so good, after only a chord or two!

Sam welcomed my son and me into his home, showed us his collection, and even started up the stage lights over his KISS action figures.

I plan to thank him personally, but I wanted to shout out loud how I love my "new" old guitar.

I'll try to post a gallery of this beauty someday, since his group shot doesn't do it justice.

Thanks, Jas

Sam helped me years ago getting a 'never sold or offered to the public' 1987 Collector's 12-string. This was before OFC. We just talked via e-mail. He is just one heck of a nice guy! Now if only he'd sell me his slot-head, then I'd clean his house for him too.....

And I'll echo these sentiments! Sam helped me find my way back into a Preacher (DeLuxe), and though there were some finish cracks - it was nearly pristine besides the cracks. As if not to be outdone - Miles dusted off a AAA / NOS body in minty fresh condition and shipped it out for the refurb...

My (like) new Preacher D' is now complete (in showroom condition) and it sounds and looks absolutely stunning.

We're all very fortunate to have such guitar nobility in our midst!!! Give it up for Sam & Miles... :D

I just used pics from your gallery as reference. Glad you liked it. I already mailed the original to your house.

Sometimes it's fun being a cartoonist:

Thanks, but do me a favor when you get it. Don't count the strings and frets, 'cause it's still just a cartoon.
