| I just talked to our Ovation rep and previewed the new 30th Anniversary Custom Legend. I was told that due to the production of the new LX series Ovations that there would not be a 2004 Collectors Series guitar. That sucks. If anyone is going to the tour, if you could find out more, I would appreciate it.

Location: Upper Left USA | As the owner of an Elite LX I feel I already have the 2004 "Collector"! It is set apart from the others and represents a change in direction for the line - as I feel all of the Collectors should.
It does sort of derail the "system" and I can see your upset.

The 30th Ann. Custom Legend is the 2004 Collector. It is made in much smaller quantity that the usual collectors series, so that makes it all the more desirable.

I don't think that the big O thought they'd sell the 30th CL Anniv as fast as they did. There are some in the hands of dealers but to sell all 300 in about five weeks isn't bad. It does leave them without a limited run guitar for the rest of the year.
Also, they have a lot to do this year - changes in deMiola, LX's, etc. My understanding is the LX is selling very, very well. Imagine how well it would sell if it was actually in the guitar stores. |

Location: Boise Idaho | I agree with you Mike. They should have an 04 collectors. Separate from the Anniverarry... They could base one off of the new LX series and really create something special. (Deep bowl, available in multi and center sound hole. 6 and 12 string. Some exotic top that would be as or even more stunning than the 2001)... Just some ideas for the "Ovation Gods" who frequent this board... HEY GUYS!!! It's not too late ya know... "Can you hear me now?... Can you hear me now?... Good..."
BTW... nice WEB site... If I was on a collectors series roll like you, I'd be pissed too... |

| I have to agree with Mwoody and Standingovation.
Mwoody, with the elite lx (especially in natural) I feel like I have a slightly upgraded 2003 collector's model. Standingovation, the anniversary is clearly a collector's edition. I'm surprised it wasn't called the 2004 Collector's Special Anniversary issue.
I believe I saw rumours of 12 string lxs on the drawing board. How many new models can they produce in a year and still keep up quality in design and manufacturing? |

| I am in the State of Virginia, and if you wanted to play my collection of Ovations, you would have to let me know in advance. They are scattered about in various bonded storage areas with the rest of my guitar collection. Insurance costs prohibited keeping them all in one place, plus the fact that I have over 60 guitars in my collection, space is a consideration as well. Actually, my Ovations are probably the least valuable guitars that I own, but they get played more than almost all of my axes except maybe for my '58 Gibson TV Junior, which absolutely plays and sounds great. I forgot to list my Cherryburst Longneck in the previous list, and the picture on my website doesn't show the 2 1986 Collectors that are currently in repair in my shop.

What a great collection of Ovations. I would hope that CWK2 notes that you have a collection of SIXTY guitars, he stated that he had FIFTY that he was unable to do without.
See CWK2, wretched excess is not limited to the state of Florida.
Your frustation at the lack of a 2004 collectors might also be assuaged by the slothead Adamas if it is available.
I think 2004 is becoming a year where Ovation has shown a willingness to emphasize it's acoustic roots and some of this year's guitars may become collector's items without the designation.

Photogazer, I don't see a Patriot on that list, the 1776-7 model. That really was the first collectable. You need to have serial number 001. Or 76, take your choice, or both. They are both acoustic only. |

Note that I said 50 that you couldn't live without, I have always assumed that in your house everything is made of Ovation guitars, the chairs, the tables, the coffee table, etc. all made from expensive, rare, Ovation guitars in pristine condition. If you decided to change all your strings at one time, it would leave the rest of us stringless for a few months while production and distribution recovered, also solving the unemployment problem for a month or two.
If you decided to sponsor a Resophonic orchestra using OFC members playing your collection, all 2000 plus would have to convene at your house and the resulting music would rival the famous banjo marching bands at the turn of the century.
We can all see the problem of reducing that collection to 50 favorites, so we all have a great sympathy for your predicamint and are thankful we don't have to suffer by having so many rare guitars. I am unanimous on that.

but bring out four new guitars it would make up for no collectors edition.
I know some peolple disagree and I know why they would.
I have an 03 colletors edition and it is so nice the would want an 04 edition.
Right now I think we just have to go with the flow and buy an LX if wee want or need a guitar this year. ;) :) |
