My 1115 arrived yesterday. Unfortunately it was damaged in shipment. The seller did a great packing job & has been great to deal with. I emailed him at noon & he already had the claim in by the time I got home from work at 5:10. The case is cracked in 5 places & the guitar has a lot more cracks in the finish than were described. Seller assures me that there was only one small check in the finish when it left & I believe him. The one major broken place in the case would more than explain the additional cracks. There are even two cracks in the rosette, but they aren't really noticeable.
On the bright side, after I pulled two shims out from under the saddle, put some lighter gauge strings on it & tweaked the ol' T-rod a bit it plays & sounds great. No apparent structural damage other than the 14th fret backing loose a little on the bass side. I shoved it back in place & it seems to be fine now. It still looks good from three feet away :)
The seller paid the shipping & did insure it for $300. If I get anything out of it I will be happily surprised, but if I don't I still have a nice playing, good sounding 12 string for not too awful much money.
On the other hand, if by some miracle they give me $300 I think I'll send it to Kim & have it fixed up & pay the difference. I've been wanting to see some of The Mothership's work everybody is always so happy with. :)

Sorry to hear of the damage and I hope you can get some restitution. Sounds like you got a great guitar for a good price so enjoy enjoy.

Nils,
Sorry about the damage. Sounds pretty bad.
I will be putting a 50 year old toy pinball machine up on e-bay soon. I plan on including a few photos of the item and how it was packed in with the shipment. That way, in the unlikely event something happens, the buyer has something showing what the condition was going into the box. A little compulsive maybe?

No, Brad, it's called "functional paranoia". You always should keep your derriere covered.
As for Our Brother's misfortune; take no prisoners, Nils! It took me and a buyer 3 months to squeeze the funds out of UPS a coupla years ago. I remember paying the carrier $65.00 to ship a 1621 cross-country. I had the pictures; he had the tenacity. And yes, it took most of the settlement amount for the repairs.
As for the Wizards at the Mothership, no finer folks will you ever get the business from. My 1115 is being restored, as we speak. I will give a (glowing, I'm sure) full report when it arrives. I think that's about 6 weeks off, if my abacus is operating properly.

Thanks guys :)

I have the pictures & I think the seller is really going after them for a settlement. He was right on the ball when I emailed him about the damage.
No sign of the UPS inspector yet...
Chris, could you email me with details of what all are you having done to your 1115 & approximate cost?
I really do like this old Pacemaker, it would be really swell if it was in like-new condition.

Thanks,

Nils
