hi folks, im a new member but an old time ovation owner, 25 yrs, 1974 balladeer, until yesterday. a local guitar shop damaged it, yesterday i was awarded a few bucks but my mint ovation is gone.

i found a new 40th anniversary reissue and have read a positive review but dont have any idea what a fair price is. as i said, i had my ovation for 25 years.

can anyone give me advice re price and/or any other comments? if that's against the rules, my apologies.

for what it's worth, i worked for kaman industries in the early 80's, defense electronics.

thx all,

da

Sorry for your loss...

A 40th Anniversary K1111-RI is about a thousand bucks... (example)

So tell them that they should buy you that one.

im not an internet person and have zero experience with message bds so again, my apologies for breaking protocol.

thx for the advice, i wish i could have my old girl back but part of the settlement was the shop was forced to purchase my gittar.

mr old man arthur...do you live in portland oregon? small world again, im 30 minutes out of town, in the woods, its raining. i would like to speak to you re the 40th reissue, the link you sent was the one that caught my eye, im talking to the owner now re prices etc, we are close, i just have to decide if i want to buy new or vintage.....

thx again everyone, i knew i was not the only ovation geek out there......for what its worth, i recently sold a 1973 martin d28 and a 1974 gibby es350t, both mint, just cause i had too many guitars, i kept the ovation on purpose!!!

flog is golf backwards....

The K1111 reissues are great guitars, but were not a hot seller. The factory must have had a bunch leftover. A big shop in Milwaukee bought out a bunch of Factory Reconditioned K1111s and sold them for best offer. Looks like the store in the ad Arthur posted did the same thing, although they might not be Factory Reconditioned. New non-FRGs should have lifetime warranties, FRGs had 5 years. The difference in price was around $250 to $300, although there was no difference in the guitars except for the warranty.
