An older 1980's Legend can be had on ebay for $400 or so. Great guitar acoustically and plugged in. And, IMHO (and I am so humble), it's better than the current O's in the same price range (which are all Korean built Celebs).....

Most of my favorites I bought used (and prolly most of those belonged to Trader Jim at one point or another ;) ) 1537 1617 (2X) 2080 C2078 custom 12 1117 Viper PF22 Magnum IV Thunderbolt Tornado and many others that have come and are now gone to another appreciative home. I don't see anything wrong with the "used Buick"

Assembled and setup in the USA factory, 5 piece soft-V neck, OP-Pro preamp, bound fretboard, GS contour bowl, scalloped LX bracing, solid top, and sunburst to boot. I'll let ya'll know how it turns out. I'm betting it's the deal of the century.

It sounds strong and has a good action. When I picked it up from the shop new in 74 some guy who worked there said "that's about the nicest one of those I've ever seen." When it was in for some warranty work about 10 years ago the 65 year old luthier who did the repair said "that's about the nicest one of those I've ever seen." I have no intention of selling it but the reality is that the guitar is practically worthless - I'd be lucky to get $400. Even if I wanted to sell the guitar it's just not worth putting up with the associated BS for $400. So yeah, they're a good deal used.

My 1117 legend went to my nephew and he's given it a good home and a lot of play time. A good warm feeling of satisfaction is worth way more than $400.

I hate playing it standing. I can't understand why the Ovation designers put such a sharp ridge in the back. Maybe it was designed with the OLD FARTS CLUB in mind - we're all so old we've gotta sit down.

(The only burst I own is my 1115, so now I got this one) I didn't spring for a case, I had exactly $308 in my PayPal account. Plus I have many cases and gig-bags, so one should be empty if I need one. Well, Now that money ain't burning a hole in my pocket anymore. I was gonna get an iDea module with it, but I can do that after I sell something to make room.

The 2171 deal is gone, I happened to be looking at them Wednesday night but was let down Thursday morning when I was ready to buy. However, I was able to get a price math form guitarcenter.com for the Ultra 2178 for $377.17 (free shipping)! MF is now jumping on the 110% price match band wagon and did so on the GC price of $386.43 $377.17 for the 2178 seems like an absolute steal! My question is this, how much "work" is actually done in the USA?
