Anyone else interested-only about 25min left. I was bidding but since the seller didn't return my 3 emails...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3717129117&category=47064&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBBI%3AIT&rd=1

He said it was new and lifetime warranty...all I asked him was if he was an authorized Ovation dealer.

Paul Moody informed me of this one and I thought I got it a very nice price. Thank you Moody-pie ! I feel the need...the need for BOG!

You got a great deal IF the seller's description of "new" and "limited warranty" are valid. However, either way, you got a good deal. I just couldn't trust a seller who didn't bother to return emails. So, he lost money as I would have bid higher. Glad an OFC'er got it.

Tony,
I was wondering the same thing. I looked at the items he sold previously and the pictures of the guitars were obviously taken in a private residence as opposed to a guitar shop/store. I used PayPal and it shows I paid shaggy41 (sales@guitarcabin.com) So maybe he's a cottage industry buyer/seller...seems to have a very good track record and sells a wide variety of guitars, Danelectro pedals, etc. I'll let you guys on OFC know how this turns out.

By my count, that's 5 out of 50 FD14's that are owned by OFC members. So that's a pretty good percentage. Even more significant because 25 of them went overseas. Also 2 out of 2 of the new Adamas slotheads and a fair number of the CL30's. Gee, maybe this group of misfits actually has an ear for good acoustic unplugged guitars after all. Dave

PS - Unless he had this one custom made, his added comment about the nut width is not correct. The FD14 has a 1-3/4 nut.

Hey guys,
I pulled up The Guitar Cabin and talked by phone to owner Kris Devido and he filled me in on the guitar. The Limited Warranty is indeed in effect and to show "The Guitar Cabin" on the warranty card as seller. It was hand delivered to them by an Ovation rep doing the rounds of outlets. After hearing the guitar Kris said "please don't take the guitar with you" thinking it would generate some Ovation business. Since it did not they just recently decided to let it go at such a low starting price. He said he will get it shipped out tomorrow and needless to say I'm delighted.
George :)

Tony,

I saw that you won the CA.

Congrats to you both.

Tony, you are accumulating quite a collection. Good for you!

Was going to buy Dave's CA but got distracted in the last couple of minutes of the auction talking to Al. This one has a couple of finish cracks but needs a good home.

Wish I could have gotten Dave's Country Artist myself. It sure is hard to find one in good shape. :(

Dave is probably too nice to say it but he listed it first on OFC with no takers, then eBay which didn't hit reserve, sold only after relisting it on eBay. Old saying "You snooze, you loose."

Make that "6 out of 50". Nice pickup, Tony. I think I was the first on this site to get theirs (Feb '03) and I've been saying over and over that in my opinion this is the best sounding wood topped Ovation I have ever owned ('68 GC shiny bowl and '67 Balladeer come close). I'd be very interested to hear the reviews from the other 5 of you. How 'bout it? I know you've got some nice O's to compare it to.

About the Country Artist (no I'm not THAT nice). I did list it here on OFC first and nobody was interested. I'll always list guitars I'm selling here before trying to sell anywhere else becasue it just feels better to see a guitar you love going to a "brother". I might suggest for those looking for specific instruments that you put a post in the SELL/TRADE section titled "WTB: xxxx". Yeah - I know ... WTB: ULTRA GP and ADAMAS SLOTHEAD.

I went back into archive and consistently found high praise. And, Dave - took very seriously your statement "In my opinion the FD14 is the best sounding wood top ovation ever."

Another example of why I value this site and members.

The FD-14 is a wonderful guitar. I had a chance to play one this afternoon at a friends house. It not only has a beautiful sound, but it is one great looking guitar as well.

Hello and thanks for the great talk about the Folklore. I just wanted to chirp in here. I don't have a FD14, but I do have the 6774 Folklore. From the first time I picked that guitar up I thought I was in love. It is the easiest Ovation to play that I have played. The nut on the 6774 is 1&13/16ths'. It has lots of room for my thick little digits. When I go play in clubs, that is always the guitar I bring. If you ever get a chance to play one of these, make sure you have some money in your pocket, cause' you will tell your spouse anything to get it. Kind of reminds me of the old Meatloaf "Paradise by the Dashboard Lite". Oh well, and yes it does have the slotted headstock. Gotta go for now! Play on, and Pray for Peace!!!!!

Glenn :D :D :D
