I have a trace acoustic amp. It's a GREAT amp. I initially thought I had a bad speaker because of a rattle type sound I was getting, but it turns out, it's just the faceplate/chassis rattling. It's a one piece chassis that has the amp and speakers all attached to it. Outside of the little wood box, it sounds great, silent, no rattle. As soon as I put any screws on the front to secure it, it rattles. I have tried my velcro strips solution which has worked on fenders in the past but this is a 5" and 1/2" strip of wood on each side, that the panel screws to. Frankly, with all that metal to wood surface, less than 1/4" from the speakers, I can't imagine it ever not rattling. This is just driving me nuts.

I can actually just back off the screws that hold it in place and it goes silent. Unfortunately, the faceplate and grill screws also assist in securing the chassis in. If I leave those screws loose too, well, that's just not doable.

Elmer's wood glue and sawdust into the screw holes/insert screws 3/4 and reseat after drying. RTV (white or clear) between members. Lock-Tite for all threaded fasteners.

I tried the fuzzy part of velcro, but that didn't quite do it. I was also thinking of a silicone bead on the mounting surface figuring it would fill whatever was rattling.

Dave Dip the toothpick in a little wood glue first & it will work even better. Wipe off any excess with a damp cloth before it dries. /\/\/

I even have some neat rubber backed dome washers if you wanna try those (send me an email on that). I use those now as standard behind all speaker mounting nuts.

I went into mars and tried their swr amps since I was looking for a lightweight bass amp for rehearsals for the lovely and talented suzipep. every one I turned on hissed. The kid asked me if I wanted to try them and what was I doing. I told him I was checking them for hiss. He said, "it does not matter when you play in a band anyway" I asked him what I was to do if I wanted to record. He had no reply

Maybe they should try to Honest and helpful Like AL. They'd Still Have stores if they did. Of course the upside is that's one less Big Box store you have to worry about. " Not going to matter if you play in a band" Give Me a BREAK!!
