I think I remember someone saying that they made a special run of those guitars for Sam Ash. Wasn't aware of the Mars One, But My guess is if they did it for one Big Box Store they probably did it for another..Someone Refresh My Memory on this.

Maybe the fact that Mars Music went belly up makes this even MORE collectable.... :p

Could Be. But is it realistic to offer it at a BIN price of $1800? I've Seen New Adamas Models Go For less Than That. I guess it all depends on what someone is willing to pay.

I don't think the were made specifically for either Mars or Sam Ash, they were available from both the UK & German distributor.

Paul,
That would be another scenerio I hadn't thought about. Is the asking price High considering it's 4 Years Old? Also Is this another Panelmaster Guitar or did they do it Solid? I'm finding that I don't remember much about it.

First, I don't think a guitar being made for Mars, Sam Ash, or Joash makes any difference in collectability. It is simply the rarity of the guitar.

This one IS quite rare, and the asking price might be fine for a collector who wants to add an unusual piece. However, it is very questionable if that guitar will appreciate in value, the Ovation market being what it is.

For many of us on this board, the primary interest is in guitars to play. Considering that I can probably pick up 2 really nice Custom Legends, etc., for that price, it isn't a good deal.

My Point Exactly!! The Custom Legend or Custom Elite are probably selling below that and some Adamas Models are cheaper or in the same ballpark as this one. And That's For Brand New!

The reserve price is probably close to $1200, it doesn't mention the electronics, and I am assuming it is at least a mid-depth bowl?...

Saw a similar unit in the Tacoma Ted Brown. Said it was a special just for their store.
