Location: SoCal | I have had second thoughts about this...this is a board for all - not collectors, not amateurs, not professionals, not 6-str, not 12-str, rich, poor, men, women, etc. What brings us together is at least one of the many Ovation/Adamas models. The instrument could be worth $300 or more than $2,000. We appreciate the instrument and enjoy playing.
It is not appropriate (IMHO) to create an instrument that only a few can or want to get. Check out the OFC Store - these are items that anyone can get to show their involvement and pride in the OFC. Why leave out approximately 2,522 members (shows 2,534 on my screen now.)
Heck, some who buy this special guitar might not have the money to come to the next tour. I'm looking forward to coming next year for the camaraderie.
Any of us want a customized guitar, fine. And, not only do we have great production guitars available to us this year, next year may have even more to satisfy our GAS.
How do we create something in recognition of our passion with the OFC? Something unique but also relatively inexpensive. When I served in a squadron - a plaque, squadron patch, and mug (and I had to buy the mug.) 6th Engineer Bn (Portland) gave me a signed limited edition print of Pappy Boyington shooting down his 21st zero - probably $100.
We already can get OFC mugs - could get a OFC mug with "2,500 and growing"
Could get a picture of the factory with the guys on the floor that make our guitars all signing it. Could say congrats to the OFC.
Could get a sticker for the case or car bumper.
Or, what??? Personally, I believe we can put something together that is nice but under $25-35.
I believe we have an obligation to find something that is available to all, not a select few. If there are enough for a limited run, fine but not as an OFC function. |

I still like the OFC inlay or TRC concept. Something simple and available.
And may I quote "What brings us together is at least one of the many Ovation/Adamas models."
May I add "and a significant amount of time spent on the internet". So wouldn't a Pc interface or a keyboard attachment for our guitars fit the bill?
A seemingly impossible task. Let's look with excitement at what may lie ahead! |

Hey, I already have a computer interface for my Ovation! It's called an Echo Layla 24 PCMCIA!! Right into Sonar3 I can go with the audio...dang, why didn't I think of that sooner! Mwoody is the best! :) Now, if I get an OFC sticker to put on the top of the Layla, I'm golden! |
