What is the general concencus on the new Ovation Elite T 1778T with the OP30? That "interesting" new pewter model? Harmony Central users say it's great, and in a very futuristic way, I think it looks pretty cool. I'm thinking of getting one for recording. I wonder about its projection when unplugged and the quality of that preamp.

Location: Upper Left USA | Very nice sounding and feeling guitar. If you don't get caught up by the non-standard looks you will have a nice instrument.
I have played the Black Elite T and I thought it had good "bounce". Great neck and it responded to different styles.
I put it in my top 5 to have under $750. |

Location: Canada | Thanks guys. I'll stick another question in here. Which is the better electronics system: the OP30 that comes with this guitar or the OP-24Plus that's installed in many other mid-level Ovations?

Location: south east Michigan | I have had very few gripes. However, when I played that pewter Elite T I got an unwanted sound if my hand, pick, or especially a fingernail rubbed on the textured surface. Maybe it's slopply technique, but see if it's a problem before you buy.

Location: Minden, Nebraska | The OP30 has about everything you would want from the OP24+ AND it has a chromatic tuner. No contest, in my opinion.
I also thought the Elite T was a great sounding guitar for the money. |

Location: Yucaipa, California | I had the OP30 on my Balladeer 6 and was able to upgrade to an OP-40 with the notch filter. The OP-30 and OP-40 are interchangable (plugs right in). When I have the cash I think I'll swap the op-30 on my Balladeer 12 also. I like the OP-40 better than the 30. |

Location: Central Oregon | I have played an Elite T. pewter. Loved the sound, loved the feel, didn't care for the look but that's just personal preference. Now the Elite T with the *red flame job* is something else again! I might have to have one of those some day...
The OP30 should be fine as long as you aren't going to be playing at high volume. If you do, you might want to swap it for the OP40 with the notch filter. I have two guitars with OP40's, love 'em. I don't usually play loud enough to need the notch filters but I have used them on occasion & they work very well.

Location: NW NJ | I love the T's so much that I have a pewter 1868-T and a black 1768-T! The sound is incredibly big compared to other Ovations I have owned including an Adamas. My gut is that this is so beacuse of the really thin finish that lets the top vibrate more freely. This is the first Ovation that I've owned or played that sounds really big and full acoustically, which is great on the beach, back yard, etc. and you have no amp to plug into (or you just don't want to tote it with you everywhere you go ...). The OP-30 sounds great and the tuner is indispensable. May try getting a 40 though to see if i like it any better. Have never had a feedback issue with the multi-hole design though - maybe I don't rock loud enough!
THe T has to be the best guitar available period for less that 2K. It is a wonderful instrument.
P.S. I think I like the looks of the black one better than the pewter - the all black and that beautiful maple neck is an awesome look! |

Location: Minden, Nebraska | Worshipleader: I concur that the thin finish on the T guitars allows freer resonation. I sold mine, but would like to get another one while I send my Custom Legend back to the factory for a refin. Maybe I should have them do it in a black T!!! |

Location: Tampa, Florida | I just came home from a business trip and found my new 1778T (black) waiting for me! This is the second one I have owned, the first one had a preamp issue so I sent it back. It seems they have made some refinements to these over the past year or so. Are these models LX's now? I noticed the truss rod cover like an LX model. New bowl? New bracing? It seems to sound even better than te first one I had. I also think the finish is smoother than before. I think this is a spectacular guitar. I played a flame one while on my trip. Awesome. I think some of the old folks in my church would flip if I busted out a flame guitar for worship! I had a friend who really wanted a Jackson flying V to play for worship, because he said it looks exactly opposite of what a good Christian "should" play. Anyway, I highly recommend the 1778T. |
