Just wanted to check that there's no 'residue' from an FRG sticker when I pick it up. (Not that that would be a problem - my FRG is (was) spotless) The seller has sold 3 '07 collectors in the last year. Unusual for a private seller. Don't panic, Flacky. I'll give it a good thrashing before I hand it over.

The sticker runs perpendicular to the normal label from upper bout to lower bout, and is closer to the bridge than the main label. If this guitar had a standard single sound hole, it would be right there inside that hole at the neck edge of the hole. It is black with white text, approximately 4" long and 1/2" wide, and says "Factory Reconditioned Guitar". I, too, would be suspicious of someone selling three of the same model guitar within a year! Be sure to give the VIP a good testing. Some folks have had problems with it coming on even when not plugged in, thus draining batteries. The little power LED will flash on mine if I pass my hand across the XLR jack, but it is not powered up. I believe that the capacitance of my hand is momentarily making it think that it is getting plugged in, so the LED flashes. But that is all it does and it does not drain batteries. So, if it flashes when you put your hand on the XLR I wouldn't panic. But if the tuner powers up without anything plugged in, it isn't working right.

The story I got was:- "My business partner and I purchased a number of these from Ovation in the States a few months back, we only had two left and you bought one of those, they are brand new and came direct from the factory. We actually are the distributors for TTM Supershop guitars in Aust, but we couldn't pass up the deal to get these when they came along. The way the AUD is at the moment I doubt you could buy one for anywhere near this price. This guitar will hold its value no problems. We sold a number of them locally and I know of one guy who on sold it for more than he paid for it." That's ok - play it as much as you like coz I will have to keep it 'away' until Christmas and it will be years before I have the skill to play it like you. Something that good is kinda too good for someone like me

A crap guitar will discourage you from getting better and eventually you will get disgusted and quit. You did the right thing!

One of the best moments at the Smokey Jam was where about 12 guitars played something simple all at once, it filled the place with an amazing sound. This was the same technique George Harrison used on "My Sweet Lord", lots of acoustics, all playing the same thing.
