In my guitar collection the only real gap is a ES-335 or 330 equivalent hollowbody electric. As alway Ovation guitars are so cheap in the used market. Their Storm series was their attempt to compete in this market. Are these guitars as good as the competion as playing guitars? What is the best of the lot if you were looking to pick one up? Thanks
Steve

The Storms do not really bear comparison to the Gibson. Thy are fundamentally different in several respects, including neck-to-body joint, lack of centre-block (except the 330) & pickups.
The "best" is the Thunderhead, but the only real diference between that and the cheaper Tornado is the pickups & neck decoration. The T-head has USA-made DeArmond pickups & fancier inlays on a bound neck while the Tornado has Schaller pickups on an unboubd dot-neck. Either of the 2 can be had for around the price of a used Epiphone "Dot" so it's a no-brainer. A '68 Thunderhead is one of my primary stage guitars.
