GC in La Mesa/San Diego just got in a 30th Anniv CL, flame (? Elite T), a couple of LX's but not 1777 Legend LX. Finally.

Got a guitar CD for my nephew - "Teach Yourself To Play Guitar" by Scott Tennant...inside cover of box shows a blue O, unknown if O or Celeb. ??lecherous guy leaning over a blond to show her chording...in front of a camp fire. Not a big deal but nice that pic was included.

never even asked for the 30th Anniv (high in the rafters) - looked purdy but I have four...heck, would rather play mine :) :)

Hey, I just had a freaking great idea. I just celebrated my 24th wedding anniversary. How about this for an idea - I buy one of those 30th Anniversary Custom Legends now and just hide it away under the bed for 6 more years. And then on my 30th anniversary I take it out and give it to my wife as an anniversary gift. Do you think that would work out? No, she doesn't play guitars and has no interest in guitars. But I think she'll like the 30th Anniversary significance of it, right? She'd probably let me use it anytime I wanted to, right? Is this brilliant or what? The worst case scenario is that in 6 years there could be a CL-30 for sale really cheap and a former Ovation collector looking to rent a room somewhere. But I think it's worth a shot.

I like it Dave!

Buy one of Tony's and have him send it to me. I will watch over it for 6 years and then bring it to you.

That gives you 6 years to play the "Learn guitar in your sleep" subliminal CDs you've heard about!

That's what Family is for!

Tony - would you take $25 a month for the next 6 years?

My payment would be only to know that a good deed has been done for my fellow Ovationaholics.

Dave,

Good idea but I don't think you can get a 30th and keep it hidden away for that long without getting caught playing it.... My wife isn't into guitars, and we have only been married 1.5 years, but she does notice when I have a new one. (Which makes it extra wise that I limit my 'fooling around' to guitars!).

Hizzonor,
I know you have been thinking about an AD-II. Our store had a 30th and and AD-II so I had time to play both side by side. There are a couple cosmetic differences but in IMO, they sound as much alike as two guitars can. The 30th had been on display for 5 or 6 weeks so the the strings did not have the jump that the AD-II which had just arrived. To the point, maybe you want to think about the 30th that Al is offering at such a bargain. I know it's not quite your birthday yet, but don't bother...that will come soon enough.
Boy is sure is fun spending other peoples money.
Brad
