I have an ultra bass. It's in need of some pick ups or pots. Ovation doesn't support this old guitar. I have pictures but I don't know how to post them. The neck is in great shape. It's a short scale and has a good bottom end sound when its not popping and cracking. It was my first bass. I bought it from a pawn shop in Virgina years ago. It has a purple hard case. It has to be one of the ugliest guitars I own. The action is great. I've never adjusted the neck. That's what I love about old guitars. They are just great palyers.

the pickups and pots of a GS bass are not proprietary. Dimarzio pickups. But "popping and cracking" is usually just a weak solder joint/loose wire... ground issue etc.. usually nothing major, but hard to trouble-shoot remotely.

Personally I think the GS Bass is one of the better looking basses out there.

FYI the pickup is a single DiMarzio DP122 Model P split humbucker.

Just a random search found them in stock here

I'm sure there are other sources.
