Hi

Well I just took possession of a Celebrity 12 String Ovation with a Celebrity two control pickup system.
It seems to be a passive pickup because I loosened the strings and can find no battery compartment.
The pickup is not working so it maybe a simple short.
But before I go off to see a tech, I was wondering if any of you have any experience with this Ovation Pickup system at all.
Is there a power source I'm missing?
These guitars were manufactured in Korea from 87' til '94 but the 12 string are rare.
So any help ay all would be appreciated.

Thanks Northerner

I would have to think it's an active type with a battery somewhere. I don't think Ovation put a passive pickup in anything. I've never messed with the celeb systems, but it should be powered. Is there a screw with about a 3/8" head by the preamp? Than usually holds the battery box in.

Probably a CC65. The Celebs with 2 black strat-style vol/tone knobs were passive. No preamp, no battery.
