My 25 year-old daughter wanted a guitar to learn on. Didn't want to spend too much. She's been playing my Applause 1/2 size guitar and liked it except it was a little too small. I steered her toward an Applause 3/4 size...which she got last night on ebay. So my question is...is there a Trekker the same size with a center soundhole that she should have got instead? I figured the only REAL difference would be die cast tuners, as opposed to the crappy tuners on the Applause. Please don't make fun of me for asking these q's...I know they're both guitars we don't like to waste our time discussing. Humor me. John <>{

You got a servicable guitar into the hands of someone that wanted to learn....Job well done. Now she can continue her journey to that Adamas.
IMO...Ovation makes the best starter guitars.

John, I had to go to Ovation's site to look at Trekkers; I had never even bothered to look at them. I can't believe there is a serious difference between the Applause your daughter got and the Trekkers. I've looked at and played new Applause guitars and they sound quite good for the money. Your daughter has a good starter guitar and paid the price she wanted to pay. Sounds like a good situation to me.

If she keeps with it and gets real good the two of you and get matching Adamas'.

I just wish my wife would learn to play and get hooked as well.

I have a 1/2 size Applause and it is a handy unit. Very bright and clear.
