Hi,
Nice forums. I just bought a 1111-4 Balladeer, in natural finish. It is currently in the careful, compassionate hands of the US Postal service as we speak.

The pics of it I have seen show a foil label, a rosette that extends to the edges of the sound hole,a textured back, and a headstock logo whithout the black borders.

Also comes with a hard case that looks to be original tan with a purple(ish) lining.

I have looked through the forums for some info on year based on the foil label, and headstock logo and place this guitar as mid 1970's?

The seller states the guitar to be "used but good" condition. We shall see today or tomorrow!

Welcome from another nut here on the left coast. Sounds like you got a real nice one. Add the Tak, Fenders and Carvin and you ought to fit in real well around here. We need a report as soon as you get the package!

Link to slideshow Here

It is not in great shape, but it was cheap, and the target here was a beach guitar with some mojo to it.

The 5 digit serial puts it between 1970-72. We shall se how much of the sink I can remove from this. Based on the height of the nut and the shims, it has been sunk along time :(

I will update as this progresses.

two are a hard material like formica or masonite, the rest are paper. Also late, and was referring to height of the saddle not the nut.
I will be replacing both the nut and saddle if the guitar is salvageable. it looks like somebody could not decide on string spacing so tried a few! :)

I hate having to wait! I am thinking it will be a week to get the top rehumidified (but not stable) another week in the case with less agressive humidifying. Then if all is stable, cleating 1 crack, and replacing the nut and saddle.

There is just no immediate gratification in this hobby!

welcome! We are comrades in ancient arms: my main axe is a 1117 Legend (the immediate descendant of yours) from 1974. Got it new in high school and still gig with it regularly!

I cut a few nut blanks and roughed one in on the Balladeer today. I made it fdrom Corian, and it matches the nut color nicely. I am a bit out of Ovation Specs on the string height above the bridge measurement, but she is now playable with no shims, and no more tilting saddle in the slot.

It is alive!

Welcome, jc;
I have one of those, too; she is an absolutely wonder guitar, with a deep, warm, definitely alto resonance in her voice. Mine is a joy to play--she has a few age marks as well, but that's o.k.; I do, too. ;)
Glad to hear that yours is making such good progress; may you get as much joy out of yours as I have out of mine.
