Adamas W597 textured top, or W681 textured?

It looks like the big differences are that the 681 is a deep bowl, non-cutaway, no electronics. THe 597 is a mid depth cutaway with Optima preamp. How would these guitars compare in sound? How do they compare in sound to an Ovation mid depth or an Ovation deep contour? I've got a spare VIP preamp which would be installed in the 681. The guitar would be for my daughter (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!). Here's to hoping the stock market rebounds soon, at least temporarily, enough to zero out the credit card.

Why not get the acoustic 681 and install the pickup and onboard EQ, tuner, phase, etc etc of you choice? (K&K, Baggs, Fishman...)

And I think the reason is the texturing. It's plane/bare/smooth carbon fiber in the center portion of the guitar, and it fades to the blue (in my case) textured paint towards the edges of the top. It just sounds amazing. Mine is (was) acoustic only and I love it. EXPORT W681 I upgraded it to FD14 electronics, and of course gloss finished the neck and installed a truss rod cover. Last year I donated it to my son in NYC and he just plays the crap out of it. It was such an upgrade over his old Taylor that it isn't even funny. I don't know anything about the 597. But I'm sooo impressed with the W681 that I just say BUY IT and don't look back. You'll love it. If it is really for your daughter (wink wink), she'll be equally impressed. In the land of difficult decisions this one is a no brainer. Call Al.

Putting the VIP in an acoustic 681 would also give the option of dropping in the OpPro Studio if desired. The total price of going that route is about the same as the already electrified W597. The advantage of the W597 is the cutaway and the reverse red burst, which my daughter drools over. But I shouldn't have checked the stock price this morning. I tell ya, I should have taken the tax hit and sold the stock immediately (Employee Stock Purchase). This roller coaster is killing me more than the taxes would have.
