BT is right, if you haven't seen/heard Kaki, she's worth a listen. And check out her lyrics. Stinging, sarcastic, humorous, brutally honest, and downright frivolous at times.

Location: Chicago | Well, it IS the Hedges-King school, after all. I've been listening to McGee for a few years and, above all, love his "flow": he puts his whole body into it.
However, I DO know what you mean, Beal: I prefer guitar playing that has more linear definition (as in melody)and harmonic movement. This school is too much an artifact of percussion on six wires strung over a fretboard + box. |

I'd rather watch and listen to Larry Carlton, Sonny Landreth, Kal David, Caleb Smith, Derek Trucks, Tony Furtato that play the instrument and make it talk, rather than play it like a drum. Guess I'm just getting old. Just not my cup of cappachino. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I just picked up a Guitar magazine in the store tonight. Can't remember the name of it, but it had a history of guitars. It had a little sidebar with Michael Hedges at the top and a nice paragraph about Kaki at the bottom representing the future of that style. I like it as part of the mix, but not as the only thing in the diet. I have trouble singing along with it. |

Larry Carlton was one of my favorite in the '80 and still is along with Pat Metheny, Lee Ritenour (FourPlay, together with Nathan East, Bob James and Harvey Mason) and others... world move on and I'm pleased to see there are players nowday that made their instruments really talk. Technic is the way one can express himself at the highest. If one do not know how to keep properly an instrument in his hands I see it hard to express his feeling. Just my cup of cappuccino ;) .
