Were there some other folks there who were not Ovation owners and ended up being converts? I guess I want to know if these are an effective way for Ovation to reach the masses. Regardless, looks like it was a great event. Sure wish I could've been there, but too far to comfortably get there from NoCal.

As we had a number of guitars evident, Matt had more of a work shop. On Saturday at GuitarTrader, Matt's setup was on a small stage, chairs in theatre style. Al, Rudy, Rudy's granddaughter, and myself were there (Michael joining us for dinner after serving as soccer coach for 6-8 yr olds.) We brought guitars but left in case as others didn't bring instruments. Appeared that some were in the store for other things and came back for concert and drawings. Matt handed out the same handout as Friday and, although he talked about what he was playing, most of the session was a great performance. Sounds of Music on Friday cost $10; GuitarTrader on Saturday didn't charge. Sounds of Music has been in business for ?? a year so understandable that they would charge to offset the cost of the guitar. Both had drawings for a guitar - Dan's wife won the guitar. What may have influenced the type of person - Friday was 7pm and a charge; Saturday was 2pm and no charge. Don't know about the others but I'm converting a deep bowl to a nut extender, D tuning, medium strings moved one string up (B to high E) with a 74 guage low E!! Got one of Matt's Italian glass slides that he sells on his web sites and at the chop shops. Bill had mentioned getting Matt to play the slide on his mando...wasn't hard to get him to do it - amazing. He plays the MM68. He was selling two of his CD's - "Black and White" and "Big Fun" They are great. If one is held in your area - gotta go; don't even think about an hour, three hour, whatever drive. And nice to see the Kaman District Sales Manager (Joe Montoya - both days) and Robert Jespersen (Regional Call Center Director - Friday.) On Friday, Joe and Matt bought dinner for the OFC'ers and two of the Sounds of Music employees - nice touch and appreciated. At each session, OFC'ers were thanked for their presence. In fact, GuitarTrader sent out an email to remind of the chop shop - funny, stated that five OFC'ers flew out from the East Coast to support the session - just shows that Al makes an impression.

Also I noticed that Matt removed the nut extender from his guitar before putting it away. When I was talking to Joe he said that the store had over 1000 students. Joe Montoya and Robert Jespersen also said that it looks like the Breadwinner is going to be re-issued. I found out that the import guitars are shipped to and setup at the facility in Ontario. (The one that Tim drives by on the way to work) Was I the only one to buy a guitar while we were there??

Brings the nut extender (a Kaman product) and loosens the strings. It lays over the nut so easy to put on or take off. I believe the only instrument he brings is the MM68 mando. Not a book mando but when the neck needed refret, they replaced the neck with one like the book - abalone.
