I am hereby humbly asking for advice/ideas about "electrifying" that standard Pacemaker 12 string I have. Please do not suggest gluing an iron bar to the lower course, attaching an extension cord and plugging it into the wall. I tried that and all it did was mess up my TV reception.
I don't know if I want to get a factory retrofit but it could be an option, if available. I'm not worried about resale values. I am not a professional collector and everything I own will hopefully be in the hands of my great-great grandchildren someday.
I'd just like to hear that guitar through an amp (other than a mic) and I know that you folks will have come up with wonderful ways to do so that is in the best interest of maintaining an Ovation's integrity and not messing up a fine instrument.

Thank you and Don't Let The Sun Catch You Cryin'..... Berkley

There are a number of excellent under saddle p/u's out there these days. They are made Martin, LR Baggs, Fishman, etc. All work pretty well. You can send your guitar to Ovation and they will put in the CP 100 saddle, and you can get anything you want in the way of a preamp and controls on the guitar.

I wouldn't worry about ruining the value of the guitar. As good an instrument as it is (and it is a good instrument), if a p/u is put in well, it won't affect the value.

Depending on what you do, the cost could run anywhere from aobut $200 to $400.

The other option you have is to sell your 12 string and buy one with a factory p/u in it. You might spend $150 out of pocket, but you'd have an original true balance saddle which is much better than any other configuration.

Something to thing about.
