4 of the 5 regular Aussie contributors got together on Saturday night and again on Sunday morning. (Ozwatto, you were missed mate) Aussie James took a few photos and I've taken it upon myself to link this thread to his Ning album. (Hope you don't mind AJ.)

Richard has some photos too. Maybe he'll share them with us too.

The moment I handed over Flacky's new '07

Flacky's new toy. (Looks happy, eh?)

There are 2 more photos, but Jim's done a Jeff_W and they're a little large. All this without a Mac.

And here are the shrunken big ones...

Muzza with his '72 Precision bass.
(I bought it at a garage sale for AU$50 28 years ago.
It's the first time I've played it in over 6 years. ONE of the highlights of the weekend for me! :D  )

OOPS. BIG oversight...

A HUGE public thank you to Richard and Marlene for putting on a memorable evening.

Also a HUGE thank you to Jim for bringing all the 'O' candy.

And finally, an equally HUGE thank you to Flacky for 'making the swap'.

Looking forward to the next one. (Steve, are you listening???)

What a great time we had Saturday night and Sunday morning. Finally catching up with friends whom I had only met through here a couple of months ago.

Richard, Marlene and Louie (the dog) treated us like family and adopted Muzza overnight.

AJ & Muzza brought along a fine collection to share around and Muzz even played his harps.

The Great Swap occurred to to amazment of all but the being presented with my new 07 Collectors was the ants pants - I am still smiling.

25% beard count means this was not an official OFC meeting. When Jerome and I met at the weekend we had a 50% beard count so ours was an official meeting.

The number of OFC members who have left the country owing me lunch now stands at two.

Uh oh. I'm supposed to meet Kotadawg for breakfast this Fiday. If he doesn't have a beard we may be in trouble.

Ahhh, springtime down under...

Looks like a grand time. Any OFC gathering has to be a winner!

BTW, where are the tropical shirts?

A good little gathering indeed! Tropical shirts are not worn in Brisbane because one might be mistaken for a tourist. Chris is a true Mexican (from South of the border) so he could pull it off, but Muzz, AJ and I have an image to keep up.

In fairness, both AJ and I wore Ovation shirts, which the Captain has noticed (like I was hoping he would).

Al, that sounds like a good idea, but finances are tight at the moment and the Pacific Peso is in the doldrums big time at the moment. Will it work in the future when someone other than AJ has money? I'd really like a 12 string Adamas at some point, but it's not worth my while to antagonise SWMBO and the afterglow of the 08C is still very strong. I think Muzz wants a guitar with a nice manly neck too.

I also need to line up a job for September '09, because that's when I cease being a student and have to go hunt for my supper again.

Steve: sorry for no phone call, but we got too drunk to use the phone. Hope you can make it to Muzzafest '09. That goes for you US folk, it's cheap to travel downunder at the moment, your US dollars buy lots of pesos.

Well I know AJ is a patient man, so he may be prepared to buy things and wait a while. I need to make sure I'll have a job first (or at least find a bit more casual lecturing), but I would like to get a 12string Adamas sometime. Flacky may be willing to dive in again (I think he's impulsive). Not sure Muzz or Oz are ready to jump soon, but AJ may be good for two if the Aussie dollar improves.

AJ, where is the Ovation history book now?
Don't think I ever confirmed that you received it...

Oz is so far away it would have been cheaper to send the cash to buy one new down there....but it wouldn't have the extra notation.

I really want to jump and Al's proposal gets my juices flowing. Can't really afford it at the moment but I want..no..I NEED a deep bowl of some sort although I'm yet to discuss this with the Minister for Finance in this household.

The first London '08 OFC had 100%, Schro.

I'll be interested Al, but it won't be this year or next year. Dollar's too weak, along with our family finances.

Imagine...
SWMBO; "WHY DID YOU BUY 4 GUITARS?"
HWMOH; "The shipping was cheaper"

I guess it's no different to...
HWMOH; "why did you buy 4 pairs of shoes?"
SWMBO; "they were on sale

That BW lap steel is VERY cool. I've never seen one of those (not even a pic!). Is that custom or were they actually produced?

4 of us have signed it and I believe its almost, if not already, winging its way down to Ozwatto in NSW as I type.
