How do they install those little golden sparkles on the Adamas finish? Presumably they are little brass flecks, but they look too big to spray through an airbrush nozzle.

I don't know how Ovation does it, but I spray a base coat, say black, and then, from a distance, spray a dusting of silver or gold paint. After that dries, I add the final clear finish. Amazing effects under light.

I think the true technical term is glittery.

Pretty much the same process that is used for shooting sparkley shit on cars. I've never been to Ovation but I've shot plenty of custom automotive paint. Our technical term is “flakey”.

Adamas flakes are very small (micro flake) and will easily pass through an airbrush with a coarse tip if you open it up wide. I’m guessing Ovation used something a little larger though.

QUESTION: Looking closely at my 1687 here I see red flakes mixed in with the gold flakes on the top. My brown one is up at the Mothership so I can’t check it. What do the other Adamas colors have for flakes?
Okay, okay… apart from the people that love and play them. :D

Do the blue ones have blue flakes, etc?

I am SO disappointed; here I was, picturing some highly creative, extraordinarily patient person with a very narrow-gauged tweezers carefully placing each glittery speck in precisely the right location.......
;) :D ;)

Ixnay, Karen! If we blow the elves' cover they've threatened to come and take all of the flakes back!

Does anyone know, are there silver flakes? Someday, when I have my own Adamas, it has to have silver flakes in with the turquoise.....

whatever color glitter you want.
Initially I think there was blue, red, silver, and gold. I don't recall what was used on models -7 and -9, probably just silver and gold.
