Didn't know they existed.

Hello,
this is my first post!!
First i'd like to wish to everybody a very Happy New Year from France.

I knew this 1591-BCB Adamas III was made but this is the first i can see!! Don't know exactly how many were made but surely not so many. The design of this guitar come from an early Adamas prototype.

Look at: http://jeromegalopin.free.fr/Catalogues/Ovation%201997%20Catalog/Ovation%201997%20Catalog.html

This is a 1997 catalog and you can find some informations on page #7.

:) Jérôme

Hi Jerome, welcome to the site!
That is a great layout of the 1997 catalogue...do you have any of the other catalogues done this way or just this one?

I just clicked onto your link and answered my own question. Your site looks great and will be a great resource of info when you get it finished.

That was, if memory serves, the last year that the Adamas I & II's were offered as a regular item, and the last year they were in the catalog. The following year Ovation offered the Adamas I with different style eppaulets and and standard 5 piece neck, and the following year, even that was gone in favor of the SMT and CVT.

Beazlie likes her picture in that catalogue and thinks there should be a basset reissue in 2005.

Thanks Jerome....It was nice to read through the catalog you posted.
Welcome to the club.
Which guitars do you own?.....ooops, nevermind. I see you have them listed on your website. Which, by the way, is very, very well done.

Please take the time to explore Jerome's website. It's really nice. He and I have been exchanging some stuff over the past months and he has done a great job of assembling some valuable information that we can all benefit from. Plus, you may just learn a little bit of FRENCH as a bonus.

Welcome Jerome. I must appologize that I never directed you to this club long ago. For some reason I always assumed that you were already a member and that is how you found me to begin with.

Anyway, you're here now and you will enjoy it for sure. Bienvenue, bonne santé, et nouvelle année heureuse.

Wow, what an impressive catalogue.

I'm not sure that is the authentic Bill Kaman since a lot of the wirds attributed to him ain't spelt write. :)

One thing that caught me off guard was the page on the basses. Either I'm seeing something I never knew existed or a mistake was made ... the Viper bass has the "extended fret" neck that's normally on the Elites and the Elite Bass has the "squared off" neck that is unique to the Viper line (except for a couple of collectors I think). It's compunded by the 5-string aspect which they got right based on the model number shown. Did Ovation ever make a 5-string Viper bass with a neck like the one shown on the Elite?

Has anyone ever played this model...how does it compare against the range of Adamas, to include SMT & CVT? Any idea why (at least per seller) there was such a limited run?

Hey, Bill;
What kind of "bait" was the photographer using to keep Beazlie in an awake and upright position??

I almost didn't recognize her . . .
