Open pearloid/chrome tuners and non gloss finish. It will definitely take some time to get used to. I bought it because I wanted a guitar with a wider neck and this is definitely wider than my 1537. On my 1537 it is physically impossible for me to fret first position "A" chord with three fingers, so I just barre it with my index finger. On the 6774 there is room to spare. My first impression of the unplugged sound is that it is much more jangly than my 1537 (which is one of the best sounding guitars I've ever heard). Not nearly as warm. This might be a result of the lighter strings. I play Elixr mediums on the 1537s and 6774 came with medium lights. The tone is well balanced and this puppy is loud. The action is terrific...though I have to learn to find the strings in all that space. Though this Guitar is minty, the fit and finish is not as good as the 1537's...there are some air pockets under the finish where the binding meets the soundboard...you have to look pretty close to notice though. It is a good looking guitar with the slot head and inlay around the sound hole. I know that I will like this guitar once we bond...What I didn't expect was that it makes me appricate my 1537's even more. I keep you updated...I gonna whack out a little "Wish You Were Here" on this Folklore :D :D

Sounds like you're like me -- you get a great new guitar, love it, and somehow it makes you appreciate your 1537 even more. Try mediums on your new Folklore. If you're used to them on your 1537, then they shouldn't be a problem. And the sound ought to be awsome!

The guitar originally had mediums on it and I set it up for lights. All I had in stock was Elixir's, which I've been moving away from because they are too bright. I know the guitar would sound louder and maybe a bit warmer with medium's. But you might try a set of phospher-bronze lights before you make the jump to medium's, if like the way it plays.

Leo, corrected me...this guitar is setup with light Elixirs, not medium-light, as I previously stated. This accounts for the jangle of this guitar (which will work well for Bluegrass and Old Time). I gonna keep the light strings on the guitar until I get used to finding the strings with the wider neck ( why waste a good pair of strings), then I will experiment with light-medium elixirs. I have really large hands and have always struggled with certain close chord forms on steel string guitars. The love affair begins :p
