This has got to be the most luscious Viper I have seen! I see some members have already found it as well.

I was looking at that. It is beautiful
They say no major blems, but what is on the back?
Is that a reflection?

Looks a lot like this one that I grabbed 2 weeks ago as a BIN moments after it was posted. :D

Actually came to me in even BETTER SHAPE than the pictures show. The one shot that looks like a chunk out of the side must have been mostly a reflection cause it wasn't on the Viper that I received (just a nick the size of the edge of a dime and about a 1/2" long).

Two beautiful guitars that would be great companions for my Viper. I am sorely tempted to bid on the one MWoody discovered, but I really need an acoustic/electric. Stephent28, how does your's sound and what do those 3 switches do?

I found this picture of a NEW model Viper where the owner has removed the black bowl paint to reveal a beautiful bookmatched solid mahogany back....

...I think Ovation should offer a natural back Viper as an option! (seems such a shame to paint over such beautiful wood...I'd strip my Viper if I thought I could "do it" as good as the one in the pic. ;) )

Bailey,
I really like the Viper 3's. I think the extra pup really adds to the flavor. If I had to choose between keepiing my Viper or my Viper 3, I would keep the 3 because it performs all the fundctions of the regular Viper plus has the middle pup to add additional flavor.

The 3 switches control each pickup in either an on or off position, so you have total control over which pickups are kicked in. You can run all three, 1/2, 2/3, 1/3, 1,2,3 alone, etc.

The one downside, would be in a live situation. It would be possible to turn all the switches off by accident and lose all sound.

The one I grabbed with a BIN was a fluke...really good price and the sunburst VIper 3 I got about a year ago sold on eBay for about $475.

I would think the one currently on eBay should go for about $600 - $650 and if that is in the budget, then most definately grab it.

The back appears to be a reflection of a ceiling lamp. Very nice loooking guitar!

Hi,
I emailed seller. The viper three has a serial # of E15518. This makes it somewhere in the 1975-80 year range. It is sweet, but not for me. peace mike

Thanks Stephen

I sure would like to have one, I'm going to keep my eyes open they sound like a great version of a guitar I already love.

Bailey,

Keep in touch and send me an email in a few months if you don't find one. I might be thinning the herd a bit around March. Plus always open to possible trades.
