| any word on the 30th anniversary ovations?..I'm thinking of getting one ..are they worth the steep price ??. |

Location: south east Michigan | The 30th Custom Legend has been out almost a year now. There are a quite a few owned by people here. The newly released bowl modification might take some of the glory away from it but anyway you at it, the guitar is fantasic. My local music store has had one in stock for nine months. I just can't figure out why it's still there.
You might find one for sale by someone on this board.

People can complain about Ovations all they want - shitty tupperware, plastic backs, tops crack like hell, no depth to the sound, slips off your knee, blah blah blah - and I'll respct anyone's opinion. But nobody in their right mind can every complain about Ovation prices.
I think you should go buy a 30th Anniversary Ovation right now and pay the seller DOUBLE what he's asking and be thankful you got the guitar.
Sorry to be so blunt, but man Ovation is such a steal that it's almost criminal.

Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | Tony Calman owned 4 of the 30th CLs at one time and will tell you without question it is his favorite guitar.
I own a 30th CL (formerly one of Tony's) and while I am not yet ready to concede that it is my favorite Ovation, it is definately in the top 2-3.
If you can find one still available, grab it! |

The 1719-30CM is a class act. As I have said before, Ovation did a wonderful job on it, a classic tribute to 30 years of a great guitar.
All I can tell you is that it is the guitar that I most often play. The one that I would replace (if I could) if damaged or stolen. I would have bought it at twice the amount. In fact, when I bought my first one from Al, added a little extra to buy him dinner. |

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | Brad, that 30CL is probably still there because it doesn't sound THAT good....don't know why(well, new strings would HELP, probably). I was there in November and played it at length. Something about that particular one is lacking. The 30CL that Elderly had was much, much better. You were very astute to buy the ADII over that guitar.

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | Tony, it certainly is POSSIBLE. I only saw and played the guitar ONCE, it is at Huber and Breese in Roseville, MI. That's 50 miles or so away from me---I don't get over there but about once a year or so.
There was an Adamas CVT they had at the same time and it was MUCH better than the 30CL, IMHO. I think with the price, Huber and Breese is going to have a tough time moving that particular guitar.

I think we both know that the price on the tag is not the price you pay. When I bought my AD-II there the price went down to internet territory in one jump.
Whenever I go there I vist with the 30th. I make sure it's tuned up displayed up front. Even with less than great strings I think it sounds darn good.
glyn...you can't go wrong with a 30th. If you do your homework you can probably get a great deal just because of the new collectors edition on the horizon. |

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | Yes, Brad, I ABSOLUTELY know that the tag price is not the "real" price(witness the deal I got on the ME 12-string), that wasn't what I was referring to. Even at $1500(which would be dirt cheap), I thought it was a mediocre-sounding guitar compared what it SHOULD sound like. The 30CL at Elderly lived up to the reputation, this one did not. Who knows why?
Glad to hear you're taking care of it, that should help it to find a home. :)
