There's an article on the chinese made guitars in March's guitar player. All hand made, and it explains why they look the way they do.
Eastman began constructing archtop guitars in late 2001, building on Bob Benedetto’s classic designs—which isn’t surprising given that the Chinese luthiers’ introduction to guitar crafting was via Benedetto’s instructional manual and video.

You also have to take into consideration that there was close to a 20-year span between those pictures . . .
The Eastman guitar in the pic that I posted goes for $1,700.

Location: Lafayette, Louisiana | Nancy must be pretty strong to hold that Les Paul up like that. Those things are some heavy. She is still a very pretty lady, and I use to love to see her jam on stage with her Adamas guitars. |

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | One of Nancy's sons ran across the stage to deliver Ann's flute to her between songs during their concert near Detroit last summer. 5-6 years old looked about right for him.
Nancy had red streaking in her hair last summer, also. Guess she got tired of it.
