Location: Yucaipa, California | Thought this was interesting.... on the advice of Master Templeman, I purchased a G7 capo last year and have been quite pleased with it. I have also noticed several web stores are now carrying the G7.
I was looking at the Korg AW-1 clip-on tuner and saw this on the Gryphon Stringed Instruments web page:

Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | I finally bought a G7 capo and I'm very happy with it also. I works great on my 6 strings and my 12 string without throwing the guitar out of tune. It's a little pricey, but well worth it.
BTW Cliff: To answer your question about using it on the 7th fret on the 12 string. I tried it and it didn't work. You can only go up to about the third fret on a 12 string. Maybe they will come out with a dedicated 12 string version eventually. |

Really? I wonder if it has more to do with the width of the neck. On my Legend 12, the problem is that the capo isn't quite long enough to grab the high e strings cleanly. Maybe the necks of the Deacon and the Glen Campbell models are sightly narrower than the legend?

Location: Yucaipa, California | ...my G7 doesn't fully grab the first strings on my Balladeer 12 at the 7th fret and higher either... but it's great on my 6-strings!
When the G7-12 comes out, I'll certainly be buying one! |

Location: SoCal | I've been up to the 7th fret of Big Blue with no problems. On a 12, you've got to squeeze it pretty tight no matter the fret. My old Shubb is easier to put on my 12, but the G7th has it beat getting off, which is well worth it. They do need to come out with a slightly longer version for a 12.
But it's a great capo and it lives with my 12's, as it is. Thank you Temp. |

Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | I've used my G7 on both my Adamas 1598 12 strings up at the 8th with absolutely no problem. I like it much better than my Shub 12 string capo, which for years was the best. It seems to grab the strings more evenly. With the Shubb I occasionally had to tweak the position of it to get all the strings to ring out. This one slides into the right position easily.
Only mild bummer is it's bulkier and a little heavier. Nothing to complain about really. |

It just didn't seem to have the reach to hold all the strings down sufficiently.
I supposed I probably coulda' fiddled around with it a bit, but I've gotten so accustomed to the Shubb that I can kinda' "feel" the right tension setting on it for whatever fret . .
. . . it's kinda' like my favorite old pair of ViseGrips that I've had since my old '70 VeeDub . . which was basically my "toolbox" for that car . . |
