That's a good ideas. Always good to have a little mileage on it before unveiling at the Frickin Mermaid.

Brad, is it 'serious' or 'frivolous'?

Mrs. Slipkid said, "With all the happy things in the world, how did you decide to write about THAT!".
It's not "contemplating your navel" type of stuff. More country-ish than anything else. Love lost / Love found / Happy ending.
I'm not sure where it "came" from myself. But this is the first song I ever wrote so I'm not going to spend the next 3 weeks second guessing myself.

Everytime I try to write something on the topic, it leads me in a dark or gloomy direction.

John... by now you should know good & well that I don't have a frivolous bone in my body.

So this is a breakthrough. 'Frivolously serious'.

... whereas mine is 'seriously frivolous'...

Some day, Brad, you'll have to introduce your dark side to my dark side.

I'm not sure I've ever heard an invitation that scared me more than that one, Mark.

Brad in a Darth Vader outfit would be less scary than him in his Fishsticks outfit. The Utes might be appropriately dark weapons.
It would be hard to stay on the dark side with this bunch of goofballs around.

OH, and I forgot to mention, I'm going to have a lap steel player on it, kinda like a David Linley sound.
The guy doing that will be out own Paul Templeman who has agreed to come to the Guitardi-Gras.
He has also agree to do a class or two in the afternoons to help Matt out, open tunings, slide or lap stell, how to run sound, or other things like this.
It just gets better all the time.

Very excellent!

Hey...wait-a-minute here... "Look What The Wind Blew In" is my title! I guess great minds think alike. :)

I premiered my song at last nights "Folkin' Friday". As I might have said before, the crowd makeup is 80% players and 20% wives, girlfriends, and assorted family. A very, very sober & attentive crowd.
The good news is that I got some nice encouragment and feedback.

BrianT was still down with broncitos... bronkitiess... bronchituss.... a bad cold... so I had to go SOLO!! I played Pure & Easy, my Wind song, and Brandy (Your a Fine Girl).

Oh... and guess what guys!! They had a nice Cherry Burst Custom Elite LX up on the stage for people to use. Nobody used it... but it was up there.
I used my AD-II which has not been taken out much since I got the UTE.

As I was leaving a nice little old lady said.. "You're going to Amelia Island??? When you see Mort Crim, tell him Sylvia says HI."
Mort Crim is a retired local news anchor. I know what he looks like but I don't think I saw his name on our list.

You know - my life is weird right now - I own a few guitars, and a few golf clubs...I don't use either very much any more...and I'm traveling from Colorado to Florida to play a round of golf and take guitar lessons. I wrote a song for an event and I'm arriving a day after the event, and 2 of the other people who will be there live within a 40 minute drive of me...is this normal here?

Watching this thread, I'm starting to get real sorry that I didn't sign up for this. But it just wasn't in the cards for this year.

You guys going to video the open mic night so the rest of us can watch?

For your concideration I give you Mr. Elginacres. A man seemingly out of his time and place. A man doing things for reasons he can't explain. A man driven to activities that he does not understand. There's a sign-post up ahead. Mr. Acres expects it to say Welcome To Amelia Island. Instead it reads Welcome Mr. Acres..... to The Twilight Zone.

About the BBQ...

I take it we'll green up down there then draw straws to see who takes the cash down to the local Piggly Wiggly to get the grub... right??

I'm not sure about that, Brad... are they Piggly-Wiggly's or Wynn-Dixies?
