None of these guys were around when the originals were built. Priceless information, thanks to all who are sending the guitars in early.

Joined: July 2005 Posts: 1609 Location: Colorado | Al: I am closer to getting in touch with Jim Messina - but have not had any direct contact yet - However, I did get an email to Richie Furay's (of Poco and Buffalo Springfield) church and they forwarded it out to Richie - who is on the road performing this week with Loggins and Messina in Wisconson and Minnesota. With any luck - within a day or so - Furay will talk with Jim Messina about the status of his slothead...and tell him about the event...though he is slated on the 30th to play in Clearwater, FL. I will kleep you posted. I arrive the evening of the 29th, and will stay through noon Saturday. Anything else I need to be doing? If more details are needed - find me at elginacres@aol.com Mark Langston

I consolidated all of the uneaten pies together and left the night staff about four whole pizzas in the kitchen (which I'm REALLY surprised wasn't served to us as the next morning's ComplimentaryBreakfast). . . That, and a couple of night's worth of good(?) music in the Lobby has put us in good graces with staff at HomewoodSuites (despite the fact that the dumpster out back looked/sounded/smelled like the remains of an overturned beer truck on the Interstate . . . I had a busy weekend, always do, but I could have taken a break from all the building and come to this event. I am 3 hrs away. And I am certainly just kidding when I say "I will add some class to this event" but on the other hand I can no longer eat Pizza nor Drink Beer. Does sound like fun playing Music with a bunch of musicians and jamming some tunes for shits & giggles and a whole room full of Ovation Guitars. I'll plan on bringing my Bass & Guitar to next years? Still hope someone would learn the Mandolin parts to "Thats the Way" from Zeppelin?? Now this event with the slotheads is really something! I wish I could accidentally, on purpose, have to bring my Adamas to the Factory for an electronic upgrade the same day this event is happening. This group of Ovation owners is very, very exclusive indeed! If I owned one of these I would make every effort to make this one time meeting! Enjoy Guy's Randy

What you want to do is to send the guitar you want upgraded to the factory 2-4 weeks ahead of time and then pick it up when you come up for the gathering. Don't make me come down to NY and drag your sorry ass up to CT. It would be more than my sorry ass could stand. Come next year. It's worth it. The factory tour is fun, but the people who come for the event, and those at Ovation make it something well worth while.
