I had a chance to play both 41 and 50 a couple of weeks back. They are awesome guitars ... but different from each other -- in good ways.

". . Clifford, why do you look so miserable in the picture? . ."

It's my nature.

Besides, the drinks w/lunch had worn off by then, and the drinks with dinner were yet to come . . .

". . They are awesome guitars ... but different from each other -- in good ways . ."

They're pretty much ALL "different from each other" . . . pretty much like a REALLY good batch of cookies.

Never thought I would use the word "patina" when discussing a guitar but, that one has definite patina. Very cool.

Al, isn't it great to be, once in a while, in the right place at the right time!

And, I believe Cliffs reference to Trigger is right on.

I thought it was determined a while back that Johnny Hallyday still had #39... or not!

He did have it. Nobody knows if he currently has it. In reality, the same could be said about Glen Campbell, Nancy Wilson, and Roy Clark.

I can probably find out if JJW still has that guitar, and maybe even get the serial #. I'll do a little digging.

Does somebody know the story and # of this "golden slothead"?

I have a bunch of pictures of that guitar but can't remember from which site I've copied them.

I seem t'remember that being one of Elias' . . .

I BELIEVE that it's really "beige", but it has a VERY heavy treatment of gold glitter, making it appear gold in the right light.

That's the color that Bobbo wanted for the OFC'er.

Temp, while you're digging around, see if you can find out the story regarding the color of JJW's slothead.

From memory it was white or a very pale beige with almost no bursting. Al has the pics now and I think I gave him the 35mm negatives also, so I can't check. It might be worth checking youtube for JJW clips. He toured with that guitar in the UK in 86 with Guy Clark and they did at least 1 national TV appearance.

Glad Bobbo didn't get his way. But then I might be a few thousand richer. Nah, I'd have probably bought something else.

The pics showing the neck heel and the 13th fret on the goldtop suggest there may have been a possible repair on this guitar. The pics show a possible breakage line about midway up the neck heel, and the 13th fret shows what could possibly be a couple of plugged holes. Could be my imagination.

And they say lawyers are ruthless. That was a shot through the heart. Especially since she wants to leave the house before the guitar arrives so they can take the VW in to the shop.

Can we ask Elias? Is he a member?
