Weaser, my 2 vices are wine and guitars, and I'm full of opinions on both.

I'm into big bold reds for the most part. Another favorite of mine that's not quite as reasonable price-wise, but possibly available where you are is the Columbia Winery (not Crest) cabernet sauvignon Otis Vineyard. I've seen that stuff win several blind tastings. There's hundreds that are better, but probably hard to find there.

Man, I just deleted about 3 paragraphs on a recent wine trip. Too much for this forum and way off topic I think. I don't want to get a "vacation".

Though for me, a good bottle of Cab, goes great with my Elite LX! Perfect pairing.

Tonight it's pizza from Pagliacci's with a nice Amador County (CA region) Zin. Try the Renwood Fiddletown Zin. Fantastically paired with pizza or a pasta in red sauce. $20ish per bottle.

We'll continue this sometime, D. And I know there are more here that would join in as well.

Sorry guys. I'm into the sweet whites, Reisling and such. There's enough variety up there that we go to some together and some separate wineries when we go up there with our friends.

I'm pretty sure you're safe as long as you're very circumspect about politics, religion, and Taylors.
;)

Miles; will there be camp sites available on the grounds at your music festival? :D

Actually camping is an option for those that may want to. There is a nearby KOA and I have a nice sized yard if tents are your thing.

We can continue this thread going, and I'm going to create a "sticky" post that I will just update as time moves forward.

I have it on my calendar and am, at this point, planning on riding out. Could be solo or with SWMBO on the pillion. I've seen a picture of Miles' guitar box case storage system in his basement. Assuming there are guitars in some of those boxes, is there any need to bring a guitar, particularly if I'm traveling by motorcycle?

It does tend to negatively effect the drag coefficient, doesn't it?

"Now, when you're going down a mountain road at 150 miles an hour you gotta be very careful, especially if you're playin' a guitar. Especially if that guitar is an acoustic guitar.
Because if it's an acoustic guitar, the wind pressure is greater on the box side than on the neck side, because there's more guitar on the box side."

I'm thinking the same thing, Brad. I'll probably fly in from Charlotte and have my daughter pick me up at the airport. She could bring her Celebrity, but would rather not deal with it or any of my guitars. At the Portland gathering, Miles bought some of his more unique Ovations and still seemed to have more guitars there than anyone. Most were electrics, but I remember at least one acoustic.
It would be nice to have 3 or more of the OFC guitars in the same spot, though.

If I can make it, I'll probably ride as well, and not bring a guitar. Maybe I'll strap the mando on the trunk.

Prof, as it gets closer we should talk about meeting up somewhere around here and riding up together.

Yes I have mostly Electrics, but I also have some acoustics, and there will be of course PLENTY of Acoustics coming from all over the countryside.

Yeah I wish only "some" of those boxes had guitars in them. The truth of the matter is, some of those boxes have TWO guitars in them if they are Electrics.

I will also have a good assortment of percussion things on hand as well.

I do not have an Ukulele not any 12-String Guitars. I do have a 10-String tho.. :)

Waskel,
If you'd like someone to haul a guitar or two back and forth from Portland, let me know. The current plan is for my daughter to drive up on July 3 or 4 and take me from SeaTac to Mt. Vernon. Although she is somewhat hesitant to take responsibility for my OFC guitar, she is very fond of 87 Collectors and might be willing to take yours up. So far she seems to be the responsible one in the family.

None of mine are special to anyone but me. But I'll be bringing at least one.

Planning on returning with one more, if possible...

Tim,
If you still have the van, bring it full of your Ovations. I probably can't bring any, so you'll have to carry the load for Idaho.

Be glad to bring a full load. And after today's news, I might have to throw in a couple of top end tacomas to show off what is moving to CT.

That same thought crossed my mind as well. And afterwards, maybe Miles can show us a road or two in his neck of the woods?

I have hauled my O on the back of my GL1800 many times, but now on the V-strom....not enough room. Did someone say a motorcycle trip?

Jeff, did you haul it with your wife on as well? I know I asked you that before but can't remember the answer.

I'm having a friend make me an aluminum sling to hold a hardshell case upside-down behind the trunk, between the tail lights, with the weight carried on the hitch.

One of these days I'll just build myself a trailer.

Are you thinking of joining us on July 4th?

Hi there .. new guy checking in.

First off, I'm not much of a guitar guy. I have a fender that I like and have been learning to play a little bit. A real little bit.

So why's this dude here? I thought you'd never ask :)

Being a friend of Miles and seeing as how he asked me to, I am offering my services as a guide for a nice motorcycle ride while you're here. I know the roads around here very well, having ridden most of them at one time or another.

So, looking forward to it folks. And I'm cheap. A couple glasses of that good wine ya'll been talking about. After the ride of course ;)

Thanks .. Ken

Not sure John, the motorcycle ride caught my eye as I am not getting any miles on the new Strom, but the 4th is a busy time for our family, so no commitments.

I'll trade ya some good wine for a bike to ride!

That's OK, I'll just hang out and drink the vino and play the guitars. (And try to hold onto my wallet)
