That's strange. I've done that on a few of mine and the mini screws worked fine.

This is on the 47. I didn't think I'd need different screws either but, with the bushing and the washer in place, I can't get the original screws to work.

No one else has run into this?

Hmm...

My Custom Folklore has the same mimi machines as my 47. I changed from the stock Schaller black plastic "ebony" buttons to full size Pearloid and then I decided I prefered the minis and changed to mini ivoroid.

I'm going to check my 47 right now and see if it will take a full size set

Issue resolved ...

after reading Paul's post I went back and tried another machine...

I discovered that the worm on the first machine was ever-so-slightly "hung-up" inside the housing, preventing the screw from seating.

Disregard my previous post....

Jeff, it worked just fine. Checked the 47 and my 1773LX, both took full size buttons using the existing mini screws.

When you take off the button make sure the worm stays flush with the body of the tuner. When you slacken off the screw it has a tendency to work it's way out of the tuner body slightly, especially if there's still a little tension on the string. If you don't push it back flush that might be causing the problem.

Hmmmmmm, not sure how I missed this entire thread but I would be interested in a set of the carved ones when available.

Carved may or may not happen, but I know that if they do they'll be at least $200 per set.

Just bought a set of full-size walnuts. They should look quite good next to the burled walnut headstock on my 87C.

In which event, an updated roll call should be in the offing.

Say, Tim, how about a carved set for your doubleneck? That's 18 buttons to you, my friend. Ante up!

I wonder what would look best next to rosewood now.

One thing I know, it's not Koa

If you need rosewood I can have some made. They were the slowest sellers, so I didn't reorder this time.
