G8r sez:
I wasn't quite as impressed tonally with the wood top Adamas. They were very good, mind you, but Steve's 1537 (that he brought along) bested them.
See? There's the problem. Side-by-Side comparison.
But like FlySig stated, after a coupla years of playing the new one might sound similar.
Cuz that pseudo-1537 sure looks Nice.

(But I cannot afford one... Those numbers have Commas in them! )

Good point about those tops opening up after a few years of playing. But considering the market price of a 1537 right now...

It looks like that wood topped Adamas that Zilla's playing has the Adamas I mounting ring. In the wood topped guitars that I've played (a couple), that extra depth gave it a great deep sound.....

Yep - traditional brown mounting ring. Maybe it was the venue (cavernous, noisy), or maybe it just hasn't opened up yet.

So what time do they start? I saw one started at 6:30, but don't see times posted on any of the others. SWMBO is talking about going to the one in Bellevue instead of Portland. I need to check flight times.

It's got an Adamas II neck but has an Adamas I bridge, which I don't think is the best bridge for a wood-topped guitar.

The reason I say that is that the Adamas I bridge doesn't have a lot of break over the saddle. It works on the carbon fiber guitars, but I suspect that it robs this particular guitar of some needed power. They should put an Adamas II bridge on it for a better break angle. It won't look as cool, but I bet it would sound better.....

The other nice thing is that this guitar has the LX neck and dual action truss rod. I have not see it in person yet but have been told that the inlaid epis are very nice and a perfect contrast to the raised body binding.

The one I'm playing in the picture has a hand laid deep bowl. The cutaway woodtop Adamas has a hand laid contour bowl.

These are really nice guitars and they play great. But I think the standard Adamas tops sounded better and were louder as well.

Go to an event check 'em out and tell us what you think - YMMV.

I am still kicking myself in the ass for not buying the 2080 style guitar. Sam Ash was giving a 10% discount and layaway was available. This was a classic case of "you snooze you lose".

2080's are the best Adamas made in recent years IMHO.

I just remembered what I intended to do last night. Watch those performances instead of that boring football game. The OFC and Al got some nice press on one of the Ovation ads, too.

I was just watching the guy playing an instrumental on the Adamas I cutaway, on the Roadshow youtube channel. Sure wish we'd see guitars like that in the stores. There's not a Taylor out there that sounds that good......

FYI: I think there has been some rescheduling. The Roadshow is in Richland on THURSDAY, not Wednesday, and in Tacoma, on Wednesday.
The manager tells me they plan to start setting up about 3:30 PM, for the 5:00-7:00 PM show.

That is kinda the point of the roadshow getting into the stores in backdoor way.

The those vids will help too.

I just noticed a bunch of new ones posted last night, but I missed Bobbo's. We have quite a few OFC reps as Hometown Heroes now. Nice job. If they ever come to my hometown, I promise I won't chicken out. I'll just have to find some really dark glasses.

No Shows in New England? What's up with that? Have one at the factory and I'll come down for that!
