I like using a loop for live work, and foot activation seems critical for timing. A third hand might be helpful. Matt, will you be doing a demo of this at NAMM?

Matt, nice mini-review (sales pitch) and I must admit this has my interest. Nice to see that Al's selling it as a preamp only because who except Cliff can afford to buy guitars right now. But I'm curious about one thing, you say it's compatible with any kidney can, OK. But what about "eigth inch input jack on the bottom of the guitar". Makes it sound like some minor retofit work is involved, but would preclude you from swapping this unti among multiple guitars. Unless of course you didn't want to use the aux input. Is that correct? Al, check your email. I'll take one. Dave PS - Any idea how to fit a kidney shaped can in the side of a Takamine ?

And not having an MP3 player I did not understand the ease of sharing ideas to work on. I am still a dinosaur in many aspects of my life but certainly when it comes to electronics. This is great stuff but considering what it will cost to buy the guitars with this technology built in my personal take is; it will be a fad and sell to the tech heads but not to a large market. If Ovation made a hand held unit you could just run a short cord to your guitar and it was compatible with MP3's and had the computer Jack ports to interface with you could use a device like this on any guitar with a plug jack to record and share/learn. Very clever no doubt, and what do I know anyway.......... this might end up being the new thing for all guitar companies. But I say whom ever builds the little portable unit will make some real money. A unit like that would bring all my older Adamas's up to date. I would consider buying one, and I am not considering one of the guitars.... You'd sell this to guy's like me and to guy's and girls who own Taylor's and Martin's and Gibson's and...............other guitars who would like this technology but do not want to buy a guitar to get it.....get it......... you'll only sell the new guitars to a few.................but these little units will be the new "Hot Accessory to Have" Boy would I be the Party Pooper at the board meetings or what? Bet they'd-a canned me by now.

Joined: December 2006 Posts: 6994 Location: Jet City | My opinion revised: for $300 I'd rather the Olympus I think. Unless the looper can be triggered on the fly like Brad asked about (and I haven't seen a response on yet). as for brighter tuner, lessons, and all the silly plug your ipod in stuff, that means nothing to me. I probably already have several toys that will do similar things already and haven't used those yet. Don't need another. I myself like the recording ideas part, but not for that price. Great guitar for beginners though. WHAT I WOULD BUY is a "flash drive' of sorts that has a USB connector on one end, and an instrument jack on the other. Perfect for a quick jotting down of an idea. I'd say the MSRP could be well under $50 Something like this... (quickly and poorly photoshopped) ![]()
