Hey, Acres;

By any chance have you had the truss rod cover off on that guitar, and if so, does it have a number underneath?

Even though mine is #53, for some unexplainable reason, the TRC (and the rod "cavity") are both numbered "20". It's been speculated that it might have something t'do with keeping the components "married" during carving process (see "detailed" pic below). So far, mine seems to be the only one numbered in this fashion . . .

THANKS for posting the detailed pix of the numbered braces . . . .
Gives me an idea of where possible ID #'s MAY be on mine (once I get a "scope" t'get IN there with) . . . .

S-28. It wasn't my basement. I was on a recovery mission at my father's, (hey somebody had to clean out all those empty cases)

Cliff, great photos! Beautiful guitar.
This may be a stupid question but after looking at yours and the other great photos, what does it sound like, can you compare it to something we might have heard? Which flavor ice cream is it??

Thanks, Sam.

I'm almost wondering that MAYBE since the TRC's were hand-cut and fitted to the necks, that maybe they were numbered to ensure the proper, individual fit.

e.g:
TRC #20 is cut/shaped. It's then laid on top of the headstock in position. The shape is traced and then the "recess" for the TRC is cut into the headstock.

It would also make sense to ensure that the screw hole aligns properly with the receptacle affixed to the back of the TRC for each guitar.

It'd be interesting to see if they're interchangeable . . . .

btw:
Have I f@cking obsessed on this ENOUGH, yet???

Cliff,
Its Ok.

I have found all sorts of numbers, Inspection Stamps and "secret code words" on the solids I have taken down. Even tried to read the newsprint between the neck and body.

Absolutely no rhyme or reason, whatsoever!

W2, that's a basement trip I would have enjoyed being on!

Cliff, is it similiar to the sound of #47 and do you believe the reissues will be close in sound?

Also, how is that cubase production coming along?

I think they sound pretty "similar"
(there's only a slight difference in the "resonant frequency" of each - #47=99, #54=95). We never had the opportunity to A/B 'em side-by-side - shoulda' done that. Naturally, I'm a little "biased" ;)
As for the re-issues . . . I can't comment, cause I haven't seen/played one. I can attest though that these guys're committed t'get as close as humanly possible . . .

Cubase: work, gigs, and home chores are not affording me the time to delve into it, yet.
That and the fact that the ThreeHundredSixtySomething pages of documentation only come in a .pdf document is a bit of a Painus in the Anus . . . .

All this talk about the slotheads reminds me that Alpep had posted in a topic that there would be some sort of reunnion of slothead guitars at the OFC fest last month. How many were brought back together that day?

You mean it wasn't during the Ofest last month ? Because my adamas slothead project may be done by August and i would like to compare its sound to the original slotheads..
