I would like to see the Josh White.

Anyone have interests of what I should bring?

tdeej;

I'd like to compare your 1547 with mine for one.

Did you end up getting a small body guitar? If so bring that too!

We'll miss not seeing you and your OFC, Mark. As soon as our Koas hit the NW, we'll have to plan another get together.
Hope the temps drop down by the weekend.

Geez, no doubt! Supposed to be 107 on Thursday, while I'm out thrashing tennis balls. "Mad Dogs & Englishmen", eh wot?! Nice thing about an Adamas- you could probably play it under a water misting apparatus, when its that scorching.
OK, I will bring Ol' Josh. He hasn't left home in quite awhile, anyway.

I just ordered a Bigsby tremelo for my Eclipse.. should arrive Friday.. figured we could install it at the shindig as a team building exercise! ;)

I also swapped out the pups for it last night and now I can't get one of the tiny screws to bite into wood.. Chris I'm hoping you might have some suggestions on how to fix it... maybe inject a sawdust/glue mixture into the hole to give it something to grab??

oh hey Chris, I saw that regal on your list and assumed it was the same reso as last year but this one looks different. I'd be interested in seeing it if you've got room to throw it in.

Sorry, but I think I'll have to miss this one. I'll be in Vancouver for farmer's market until 4, but I'd have to have my brother drive a second car and drive himself back, which means that I'd have to drive the cargo van back later and deal with the odds and ends leftovers by myself...adds a couple hours AFTER I get back to Oly from there, which is already about a two hour drive.

I'll chat with him and see what he thinks, but don't count on me. Unless y'all want to come jam at the market... ;)

Actually, Deeve, you can use the tip of a toothpick (tapered end, already!), split in half, and a spot of Titebond. Damp rag to clean up the squeeze-out. Takes about 2 minutes.
See ya Saturday! With Ol' Josh & The Reso- sounds like some kind of seriously gruesome delta blues duo, eh?

Andrew, what time does the market open and what is the address? I may swing by and say hi on my way to the shindig. Perhaps you and your brother could both stop by for a bit. I'm sure you could unload some of the leftovers on us. Is 4 when the market ends, or when you're all packed up and ready to leave? Seems a shame for you to be so close and not get a chance to say hi.

Chris, you bring the tite-bond, I'll bring the toothpics.

Andrew, does the market have a stage or a shaded OFC Jam area?

Actually, the market has both...right down from our booth is a covered 20x10 area that they use for a lot of small shows (there's a bluegrass band that plays a lot). You could contact the market and see if they've got something scheduled this week or not. The manager's name is Robert, and you can get him through the website at www.vancouverfarmersmarket.com .

The market actually runs from 9:00 to 3:00, and we usually get packed down between 3:30 and 4. If it was just me, I'd come down in a heartbeat (provided I could stash a couple guitars in there somewhere), but my brother wouldn't be in to it, and I know I'd never convince him to go "hang out" in Portland for the evening...

Let me yak and him tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

LOL yeah they couldn't be more opposite from each other, eh? Although I have to admit that "the 'Couv" has turned their downtown area into a nice little area lately, ie the farmers market.

Hehe...sorry, Miles...no goodies going north this week. Driving 100 miles to Vancouver/Portland is bad enough, that drive from Olympia to Mount Vernon is pure madness.

Hi Folks,

I am new to the Fan Club and recently purchased my first Ovation--a used 1970's Breadwinner solid-body electric that I found about a month ago on Craig's List:

http://eugene.craigslist.org/msg/354850695.html

(I hope the link still works).

I absolutely love the guitar and its distinctive sound! Through the OFN site I learned about customer serviceperson extraordinaire John Budny, and I was able to purchase NOS replacements for this guitar's damaged and missing parts--amazing!

Are solid-body electrics welcome at the PNW mini or is it just for acoustic instruments? If the Breadwinner is welcome, maybe I'll try to finish putting the guitar back together on Friday night and drive up from Eugene to Portland on Saturday.

Any advice would be appreciated and thanks to the OFC for all the help you've provided already!

Wow, congrats, you stole that guitar!

Welcome to the club, by the way.

I'll be taking delivery of a hand-built breadwinner of sorts myself at the party. I'll also be bringing my Eclipse, which is a pre-breadwinner Ovation hollowbody electric. Greg has some solidbody electrics that will be there as well and there will be amps, too. Your BW will fit right in, even if it's in pieces!

PM Gh1 for details. (Find one of his posts earlier in this thread and click the "handshaking" icon near his name to send him a private message.)

Thanks DVD! I've sent a PM to gh1--looking forward to meeting some local OFNers.

Was the Eclipse a 335 style double cutaway? If so, I think I played one at a music store in Boston in 1971--but I could be wrong. The instrument I played was set up to demo the Hammond Condor guitar effects box (an early and ill-fated guitar synth) that Zappa played on Chunga's Revenge.

Yes, you're in the ballpark. Ovation actually had several models that resembled the 335. Thunderheads and Tornados had more traditional finishes. The Eclipses were Thunderheads with unattractive grain on the bodies, so they sprayed them with the black polane textured bowl paint and sold them cheap....

Click on the "References" tab in the left column for some great history on the O solidbodies, etc.

Okay, so after much debate...

I'm going to have to pass, guys. I'd love to go, but logistically this just isn't going to work this time. Kind of sucks to be so close anyway and not attend, but oh well. Amy's having a tough time as it is with 3 kids 3 and under, so it would be good for me to get home earlier rather than later anyway.

That said, I will be at market all day...anyone coming by there wanting me to bring something to play? I could always throw the Koa 12 in the van... ;)

Andrew, what a bummer. I'll swing by to say hi and pick up some of your wares on the way to the shindig. No need to bring the guitar, at least as far as I'm concerned.

I'm telling you girls.....you gotta black out the second weekend in July for the Vancouver Island Music Fest.

2 1/2 days camping, listening to music, even playing some. (This year was particularly good listening, so there was less playing than normal)

PLUS, you get a good comfortable visit in and share good times. Nothing rushed. I come back feeling like I've had a week off. (of course, I can't hear the all-night revelers. Combination of earplugs and sleeping the sleep of the innocent....can't remember where I stole it.)
