The one that got my attention was a volcanic pyroclastic rock known as "ignimbrite." "byte" was the very first term that I learned as a computer newbie ... back in the day when DOS was the way to navigate around the computer, and windows was still in its infancy stages. I decided to put the two terms together, hence my username. :)

We didn't know if it was going to be a boy or girl, so we referred to him as "two-sticks". I've been using it since that day and it always brings a smile to my face. I modified it to 2stix though, so people wouldn't get the wrong idea that I was one of those drummer types! Mike...

Y'see, When you are in your later 40's, you are an Old young-man because you are often older than your peers but not really ancient. [hence, Old Man Arthur] BUT! Once you turn 50, you cross a threshold and become a Young old-man. I have since crossed that threshold, but I ain't changing my name.

My buddy (who also works there) and I formed a duo and named ourselves the Topdogs. My first name is Jim.... Now if you mistakenly leave your cap lock on when you register, it looks like this TOPDOGJIM. After that I just always used the same name on every forum, bluegrass, suzuki motorcycles, ect..

Oh, just noticed the Collings Gallery is missing a certain sunburst CJ Deluxe. I need to fix that. Either add the photos or get rid of the guitar. Hmmmm... Also, yes I do own Ukulele Gallery and that one is under construction.

I used to work in sales and my boss started to call me Hoss and it was always easier for customers to remember Hoss than Percival Sweetwater. To muddy things further, I started riding a motorcycle called a Boss Hoss in 2002. So it was like karma dude.

Mine's to distinguish me from a bunch of other Marks on another board in a galaxy far, far away. I don't visit there any more, but if I used a different name for every different board, I'd forget.

The money they left me enabled me to start this venture. But with a last name like Swan, what was I to call it? "Swansong?!!" I think not! So I named the shop after my hometown instead. When I joined the board, I used the name of the store for my screen name. It's what most people around here call me anyway. "Canterbury String Lady".

Joined: January 2006 Posts: 5881 Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Say Hoss, still got the Boss? There's a few of us who've been riding for many years. I sure looked long and hard at those big Boss Hogs at a Harley rally in Texas a few years back. They're amazing . . . a built-up Chevy 350 with no transmission, just one gear. No need for anything more because there's still sufficient torque to spin the wheel off the line. The only thing that concerned me (besides the price) was those fat tires and their obvious implication on steering. Nonetheless, they're impressive machines. A real demonstrative expression of the "a big engine is good, so a giant engine is even better" theory of motorcycle power dynamics. We need some stories here. Oh yeah, sorry, wrong forum.
