As you, I and others have concluded, no matter if you "need" this guitar or not, the price is just too freaking good to pass up (last of the best). Take out the battery, loosen the strings and stash it under the bed. You'll sell it in 10 years for double the price. Congrats.

Al never mentioned how many of these were available (a limited number to be sure) but for the asking price, people should consider putting it on a credit card and grabbing what appears to be the last Adamas guitars to be made (except via custom orders and I shudder to think what those will cost!). Soon they will all be gone and people will be weeping at the missed opportunity.

But having said that, I'm not a huge Adamas 6 string fan (personal opinion -- those who love them are also absolutely right in their opinion as there's no right or wrong to it). I've only played 3 that really knocked my socks off. They were Clifford's slothead (he's a guy who used to hang around the board), Whitehead's custom wide neck, 12 fret, mid bowl Adamas, and Toby's 47 of 47 (I played, one night every guitar he owned and kept coming back to it). I own 2 Adamii, Big Blue (my Adamas I 12 string) and #3 of the OFC guitars (ding!). Will never sell either. And while the 6 string sounds great, it's special for a lot of other reasons besides the sound. If I really loved Adamas 6 strings, I'd sell guitars to afford one of these. But as exciting as it is, I'm just a wood topped kinda guy......

That said, I have no doubt that everyone who gets one of these fine guitars from Al will be thrilled...and congratulations on owning the finest A/E guitar ever made IMHO.... Now, about vintage amps...lol

I had forgotten how great these guitars looked and sounded. Getting one was a stretch due to the tough economic times but man am I glad I did it! I cannot stress enough that if there is any way you can swing it, you should grab one of these......last non-custom shop Adamas to ever be made and Al has a price that just can't be beat! Thanks Al for making this happen!!!!!!!

Richard, I have played and owned a bunch and I have to say that in my experience that is the exception rather than the rule... However there have been several Adamas II's I have liked a lot: Beggins 1685-5 is one of the best 12 strings I have ever heard, and TJ's 1681-7 is a great 6 string... Side by side a/b comparisons usually tip in favor of the Adamas I's... IMHO YMMV

If based on some criteria (my ears) you could like them all up the Adamas I's would all fall towards one and end the Admas II's would fall towards the other. But there would be some crossover in the middle. I remember one particular 1581 single epi that was just freaking amazing (I think Temp has it now) and I also remember a 1687 that was pretty dead. Dispite the man made materials these ARE living and breating beings in my book and each has it's own voice. The Adamas I voice to me has a bit more growl and low end. But for playability I far prefer the Adamas II because of the neck. The FGA (Final Version Adamas) 1687 that I just got from Al is a tone machine. Side by side with 47RI-47, OFC-8 and SH-42 you'd have a hard time saying the FGA was AT ALL inferior to any of them. These FGA guitars from Al are the deal of the century as far as I'm concerned. I've detuned it, removed battery, put it back in the box and stashed it away for a nice rainy day sale years down the road. Call Al

This one sounds better than any of the Adamas IIs I had and I was amazed at how light in weight it was. I think it compares very favorably with the 47RI and my custom 2080Ds. Right now it sounds too good to put back up and store for a rainy day sale. Got a few others for that purpose. This one is gonna get played.
