1) What makes you think we don't?
2) They both share a same root cause - a disregard for the feelings and rights of others.

Ummm, guitar forum here! Battered, abused and mistreated guitars included...

Shouldn't you be over on the 'ribbon collecting' sites?

Is that all this is? Oh, I'm so glad. All these venomous statements being expressed simply because a guitar was destroyed. Thank goodness there are individuals like all of you out there to look after mistreated guitars and crucify anyone who may cause them harm.

Kyle destroyed a trophy crafted and given with pride. That it just happened to be a guitar is beside the point. It could just as well have been a Masters tournament cup, Super Bowl ring, or heavy weight championship belt.
It was a classless thing to do.

That's the bottom line right there although I rather doubt that Mr. Busch will appreciate that fact.

Sorry, but that was the WHOLE point!
Would it have been appropriate to smash a grandfather clock? No. But paint some race cars on a guitar, give it to the winner of a rock & roll theme auto race, have him smash it on stage and toss the pieces to his crew? That's just beautiful.

Like someone pointed out... That was probably a Special II (see my sig) all painted up.

He probably has another one that he kept.

Maybe it's just racing car drivers. They seem to have a penchant for spraying expensive champagne over people.

OMA,
Go back and read Mikes post on page two with the artist (Sam Bass) comments. This was THE award they spent countless hours creating.

A little more than just a few cars painted on a guitar, Fletch.

I still see it in the context of taking a hammer to a Grammy after it was just handed to you.
Sure you have every right to do so. But it's classless and disrespectful.
My opinion, obviously. I'm old school.

Now, I have a mandolin to play...

It was the great Dan Gurney who started that at Le Mans if I'm not mistaken.

Yes it is.

One of the greatest races IMO.

A few years ago the Audi team changed the transmission and complete rear suspension in about 4 minutes during a pit stop.

As for NASCAR, I don't watch it but I respect what they do from a drivers perspective - anyone who thinks it's not racing ain't never been in a race car at speed.

Come on guys, champagne will be sprayed everywhere!

It took years and years of nurturing to create that champagne, where is the righteous indignation?

OK, just kidding.

Joe, I agree completely. Le Mans is the greatest, nothing else comes close.

Shelby, Foyt, Gurney and Briggs Cunningham all went over there and kicked some ass. Too bad there isn't a better US presence in open wheel racing these days like with Revson and Cheever but all roads lead to NASCAR and that's where the careers are. There's some talk of the USF1 team based out of Charlotte NC but even though Busch might be one of the better drivers he'd be stupid to leave a good career in NASCAR to go hind tittin it in F1.

Yeah, NASCAR is the place to be these days - even Danica Patrick has talked of moving over. Big money, lots of racing.

I do hope USF1 gets off the ground. Maybe reestablish Watkins Glen as the site of the USGP? Fond memories of camping out in the mud....

Fascinating isn't it. Racing engines extract every ounce of power from their fuel, burn very clean and push technology ahead in leaps and bounds but it's somehow ideologically incorrect that people should derive any enjoyment from watching the sport..lol

That said though, the historic European races are being eliminated and replaced with sand box derbies hosted by slightly obscene nations attempting to buy credibility on the world stage.

NB - this is all music related because I'm riffing on my in between posts/sentences..lol

Absolutely.

For me it's Mosport during the 70s CanAm and F1. Now I am privileged to run my own car around that track and I want to run the Glen one day as well - two of the biggest, meanest and scariest tracks there are..lol

I thought the conservatives won the most seats with the greens coming in third. Don't tell me the conservatives have become (gasp) green?

Hey, and I've got a dodro on my lap. Oops, it's a National, which forum is this?

Ah, don't get me started on CanAm. Unlimited horsepower, simple rules, and Mark Donohue. I hated F1 for a while after his death.

Yeah, and the CanAm field really does shake the ground when they all go by at the start.

I can still see Donohue in the Sunoco car coming down through corner two at Mosport after he ripped a bit of the nose off it. He ran away with those races.
